If you're in Taormina, stopping by Bam Bar is a MUST! If you go into the late afternoon hours, usually you can walk up to the restaurant with a minimal wait time, but the wait for a table can be lengthy during peak times. The restaurant has a number of tables both inside and outside and all staff greets you warmly and helpful in answering any questions you have about the menu. The granita menu board is shown with all the flavors for the day all with fresh ingredients. We went twice during our stay and ordered two different mixed granita, with the whipped cream on top, both around 5 Euros each. We also ordered a brioche to share for around 2 Euros, and we also ordered a Freddo each for a few Euros (including a shot of espresso with a little glob of coffee flavored granita). Probably some of the best granita we ever had. Unfortunately they don't serve all the flavors on the menu so you have to read the board as to what they have at the time. On the first day here I had strawberry and lemon and my wife had coffee and Nutella. It was good....granita with brioche was a foreign (no pun intended!) concept to me so I was unsure of if I would like it or not but I think all in all, it's a pass from me. Since it's so popular we went right when they opened and there were about 10 people also waiting. We sat, the man went over what flavors were ready then took orders. In particular, my favorite granita is almond, which is something that's very popular in Sicily and Bam Bar happens to specialize in it. Our tour guide told us this was the best place to go for granita - specifically café con panna (cream). He was right. Absolutely delicious. Couple cautions - there's no takeout. At least, that's what they told us when we got there. It was also pretty crowded, but either because a large group just left or through sheer happenstance we were seated almost immediately. I think the turnover at this place is pretty high given that it doesn't take that long to devour a granita. A tiny shop serving Amazon Granitas in the heart of Taormina. Unlike other spots, here you can have it all-a fresh and fruity granita on top of creamy gelato. There are dozens of combinations but we opted for raspberry granita on top of white chocolate gelato. You also have the option to add thick rich whipped cream (do it) on the top. All this for only 4€. Our group of 4 only ordered 2 to share but after a few bites ordered two more. Delicious and refreshing. It can be a bit of a wait for a table, just check in with a guy in an orange shirt and they will add your name to the list. Don't just grab an open table. Let me say first, it is not as big as I pictured, that's not really a bad thing. The fruit flavors are so fresh that it feels like you're literally eating perfectly ripe fruit, just in granita form. Absolutely no artificial flavors here! For each granita, you can choose up to two flavors, including strawberry, raspberry, lemon, orange, melon/ cantaloupe, lime, almond, coffee and chocolate, plus even more seasonal flavors. Peach and orange are by far the best in terms of freshness and taste. Unbelievably delicious. Delicious! We had granita and brioche every day we were in Taormina! My ultimate favorite was raspberry and kiwi, with cream on top (do NOT pass on the cream), but we enjoyed every flavor we tried!
