State Farm fought tooth and nail every step of the way with the shop. Shop was providing photos and standard repairs every step of the way to return my car to me in the same condition it was prior to the accident. Initial estimates were off by $1000. Shop reduced their estimate by $600. State Farm stuck me with the $300 bill from the shop. I would never recommend State Farm for any insurance coverage based on how I was treated and their lack of accountability. I'd give them zero stars if I could.

Based on that assurance, I canceled my existing policy with another company -- effective that same date -- to avoid paying for two policies at once. It turned out the coverage was never actually processed, leaving me with a coverage gap. Since then I've had to chase Ian repeatedly by email just to get a status update, and calling customer service was no help -- I could never reach him. As of 7/24, the effective date I was given, the policy still isn't processed and I have no confirmation and no response. When someone tells you your insurance will be bound on a specific date, you make real decisions based on that -- I canceled real coverage on that word. Following through on those commitments, and being reachable when something goes wrong, is the bare minimum for an insurance provider. I can't recommend working with Ian Smith based on this experience.
