Birmingham is famous for its curry houses, and I've lost count of how many of these countless establishments have Balti in the name. Needless to say, adding another Balti-based curry house to my already impressive (and worrying in terms of my health) list of frequented Indians wasn't high on my to do list, but after a hard day of reviewing, I decided that a Balti Express would be right up my street. My first impression that the prices were very good, with free poppadoms with every meal, and main dishes averaging around £4, which is good even by Birmingham's excellent standards. The food was very good, not the best curry I've ever had (that'd probably be the Balti Bazaar in Hall Green - see what I mean about 'Balti'), but still very nice. If you're not looking to eat in, they do free delivery on orders over £7 (if you're within a three mile radius; if you're beyond, the order has to be over £10). The interior isn't particularly nice, and feels quite sparse, but it's functional. read more
