This was not stated in any policy on the website or app. When I explained my situation, the driver hung up on me. I sent a text requesting a refund but received no response. When I contacted customer service, I spoke with Ashe, who informed me that Big John has a verbal policy in place that drivers cannot go upstairs or enter the building. However, this policy was not stated on the website or app. After placing another order for cash delivery, I was informed by Ashe that the driver would not come upstairs. Despite explaining that I have a disability that makes it difficult for me to go downstairs, Ashe gave me a five-minute ultimatum and threatened to blacklist me. This behaviour constitutes a breach of the 2010 Act on Harassment/victimization. As a customer with a disability, I feel that I was not treated with the same consideration as able-bodied customers. Ash was very clear that failure to come downstairs would result in being blacklisted. This made me feel victimized and pressured, especially as the driver only gave me two minutes to get downstairs, which was virtually impossible due to my disability. Despite explaining my situation, the driver continued to call me multiple times, putting a lot of pressure on me. This mistreatment has led me to seek legal advice. Unfortunately, I was unable to make it downstairs in the given time frame, as I was struggling with the stairs. I regret to inform you that the food I received was lukewarm and not hot, which made it almost cold. I was disappointed with the experience and felt mistreated. As evident from my history, I am a frequent patron of your services. However, I must bring to your attention that the driver assigned to my recent delivery has constant pressure to get downstair. Ahh Big John's... That familiar warmth that washes over me as I see the pink on green colour…read morescheme, and the way that the words 'Famous Five' makes me think of chicken nuggets rather than Enid Blyton perhaps says a lot about my relationship with Birmingham's fast food institution. My relationship with Big John's on the Bristol Road went from a curious first meeting at the outlet opposite the Vauxhall Garage beyond Millenium Point, to a passionate few months of indulgence following a move to Selly Oak (The Bristol Road Big John's stood between my house and the train station as a constant temptation). Following dieting and vegetarianism, we're not really on speaking terms at present, sadly. Perhaps the best reason to visit Big John's on the Bristol Road lies in its rivalry with Pizza Pepper next door, which has led to an outrageous price war between both establishments, slashing pizza prices to less than 50% (In real terms, a massive 12" pizza from Big John's is a steal at £4.99). While Pizza Pepper's pizzas are less drenched in grease, Big John's has a small advantage by letting customers pick as much of their own toppings as they'd like. For example, my usual would be cheese, pepperoni, jalapenos, chinese chicken, regular chicken, red onions, peppers, mince, a second layer of cheese and a top layer of pepperoni - ONLY in that order. While the shame of struggling home with such a large box past masses of people waiting for busses might hurt for a while, the dinner (and following breakfast of leftovers) will be well worth the while. Besides pizza, Big John's covers a large variety of chip shop regulars, peri-peri chicken, kebabs, kid's meals and even paninis. These are all mostly inexpensive, with the 'Famous Five' deal in Selly Oak remaining an old favourite. When I moved to Selly Oak two years ago, a fairly small - but still generous - portion of six chicken nuggets and chips, a slice of pizza and chips, a donner meat burger, one piece of chicken and chips or four hot wings and chips were all available for £1 each, which proved to be a very tempting proposition at first. Following two jumps in price to £1.25, then £1.50 a few weeks ago, it remains a good deal but is less likely to make me count my change in the street like it used to. Perhaps over-indulgence has overshadowed my relationship with the Big John's in Selly Oak, but it continues to open new stores and keep customers happy with a large and often pretty tasty menu, so it must be doing something right.

This is a small but cosy corner cafe that does a mean hot pork roll…read more It looks like it hasn't changed in years and that white-wooden exterior and tea-shop interior means it has a quaint, country feel to it. The staff are dead friendly and you always end up stopping for a chat when you nip in for a takeaway snack. The food is simple but tasty and is a mixture of hot and cold stuff. Sandwiches are made to order, and they do nice baked potatoes with a variety of fillings. If you are in the area and are peckish then this is a great place to drop in on. If you want one of the hot pork rolls I mentioned then don't leave it too late - they tend to be quite popular and often sell out quite early in the day.

firstly, despite the name, i have no connection to this cafe :) Ive been going for years on and off…read moreas and when ive been working in the area. The staff are always very accommodating and friendly - when i went in on Saturday morning i had a good 20 minute chat with the staff, its always nice to get the local gossip! My usual fayre from here is their hot pork bap - its served (if wanted) with apple sauce, stuffing and gravy and is totally delish. I was taking mine away and when i got home i found that it had been put on a paper plate and wrapped securely in silver foil so was still lovely and hot. Its touches like this that make Emma's Pantry so good. They also do other sandwiches to order, homemade cakes, some pastries, baked potatoes and drinks. I have knocked a star off because when i went in on Saturday there was a lack of sausage rolls/pies etc which would havefurther improved the selection. They also sell cookbooks written by the eponymous Emma although i havent had a look through these. A well established, friendly cafe (there is room to eat inside and, i think, outside, although there is a park nearby so on a nice day you can lounge on the grass and eat your food) which i would highly recommend to anyone.

I was mega hungry the other day and was in need of something unhealthy, but filling. I happened…read moreacross this eatery and decided to go in because it seemed like the perfect place to suit my needs. They sell a wide range of fried foods, pizzas and kebabs. I went for the chicken doner in a large size. The chicken meat was nice and moist and it didn't have any gristle in it. It was also very well seasoned, I prefer a moderate seasoning. Some kebab houses put too much sauce on; others put no sauce at all on making the kebab taste too bland. This was absolutely perfect and I eat the kebab in super speed time. The shop was crowded with young squealing girls from a nearby girl's school, this was a little irritating, but it didn't stop me from enjoying the kebab experience. I just won't be coming back here at kicking out time again.

It was a bank holiday in the UK yesterday and, fancying some fish and chips, I ventured out to my local chippy - The Dolphin Fish Bar - to discover it was closed. Suspecting that the same might be the case with Dads Lane, I headed off in the car in the direction of Moseley in search of a chippy, and noticed on the way that Megabite was open, so in I went. I got a mini fish and chips for my wife for £1.50 and I had a rather bizarre Kebab Wrap (+ chips) for £2.50. Last of the big spenders that I am, I was rather chuffed to have secured dinner for two for considerably under a fiver, so I spent the change on some chicken wings. The man behind the counter was friendly and chatty and we passed the time of day whilst the fish was frying, which was as pleasant as it was unexpected. Once back home we tucked in and found that the food was pretty good. My kebab wrap (essentially a doner kebab made with a Mexican tortilla, rather than a pitta) was pretty tasty and the fries were those halfway house things - not quite chip shop chips, not quite french fries - and they were tasty. The chicken wings were so-so, but didn't detract from a largely positive experience.
