We had booked 3 twin rooms and were pleased to be shown to 3 rooms right next to each other. The rooms were a good size and each had a double and a single bed. We settled in before heading down to the leisure club. There, we went into the 12-metre swimming pool, the sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi. We didn't try the spa but treatments include massages, scrubs and facials. That night we headed to the hotel restaurant where we selected our four courses. I went for the ravioli to start, the chicken/chorizo main served with champ, cheesecake for dessert and a cup of tea to finish. We were advised the cheesecake was caramel and chocolate, but when it came it was mixed berry. When we asked, we were advised they had run out of the caramel cheesecake and were very apologetic that we hadn't been informed. They even offered us a second dessert- so very good service. After dinner we stayed on and enjoy a few drinks while watching the residents and locals jive the night away to the live music! A good bit of old-fashioned craic! (I think that's the joy of the Burrendale- it's a homely and comfortable hotel, rather than being "show-offy".) It was a lovely break and we all enjoyed our time away! It's only an hour outside Belfast but felt like we were getting away somewhere further!

Mains were Pork belly for me and salmon for my wife again both flawless. The desserts were to die for- light fluffy toffee pudding and a light and refreshing Crewe brûlée. I had water throughout my meal and ended with a coffee, my wife enjoyed the Zinfandel. We were both extremely impressed by the very professional service and staff. The house itself is a lovely Irish farmhouse that is probably hundreds of years old. The inside of the house has been totally remodeled to retain the classic look but with modern amenities. The outside is surrounded by vast farmland with a hedge defining the inner yard and gardens. An Irish farm outbuilding sits out back but it too has been remodeled into living space. Breakfast was wonderful with fresh fruit, yogurt, and a plate of eggs and bacon or salmon. There was more than enough to eat and the breakfast tasted really good. It is for all these reasons that I give Edenvale a five star rating.

We went along for Sunday dinner as a group of four adults. The expectations that I had due to what I'd been told and had read online were certainly met and exceeded. The have a fantastic menu that gives lots of choice and something for everyone, without giving you that sinking feeling of being handed a massive menu and thinking that they may be a jack of all trades and a master of none. As it was a Sunday, we all opted for a traditional dinner, there were 2 x beef, 1 x chicken, and i had the salmon, and with this we got all the usual trimmings and fixings. The orders were taken on tablet devices (very futuristic for Larne!!) :) and the food arrived quickly and evetything was present and correct. The food itself was delicious and very fairly priced for what we had, suffice to say there was no room for pudding, although the sweet list looked very tempting. Definitely next time! The owner's parents were so welcoming and friendly, we couldn't believe it. They were very chatty with us and recommended several spots in town - they offered to give us a ride into town. After our tour of our room - the gentleman returned and gave us a tour pamphlet of their town and went over the historical sites. After we settled in, he gave us a ride to town - he even gave us a mini tour of the town and drove us around. We were so pleased with the service provided to us. We get back and our bed was the most comfiest of them all. I had a good night sleep and couldn't be happier. The next morning, everybody was very pleasant and helpful. They checked in on us and wanted to make sure we had a good time. The breakfast was delicious. When we checked out, the owner was very friendly and talked to us about several things. This is a place we would definitely come back to when we tour Ireland again.

Apparently there was a wedding that no one bothered to tell me about when making reservations. Obnoxiously loud music played well past midnight making sleep essentially impossible. I tossed and turned on the lumpy mattress wishing that I didn't have to hear "Country Roads" played so badly that John Denver was turning in his grave. Although there was no bath mat of any kind for the slippery shower room floor, there was a little black curly hair waiting to greet me in the tub, and the tile looked like it needed a thorough deep clean. There were no outlets anywhere near the bed making it difficult to charge my phone. To finish things off, the door did not meet the threshold and the resulting gap let in light and the sounds of drunken guests wandering the hallway. All in all, it was a complete letdown.

We took the Steam Packet in from Belfast and walked from the Sea Terminal with our roller bags in tow. We got a great overview of the main drag and the sea along the way, and the hotel is close to all the downtown attractions like the Villa Marina, Gaiety Theatre, beach, shopping, and restaurants. When we arrived, we were greeted warmly by Kevin, who runs the place with wife Gillian. He gave us the front door passcode and our room key. The building is a converted Victorian, so the stairs up were a little steep. Our room looked exactly like it did on their website. It was bright, cozy, clean, and comfortable. Our bathroom was ensuite and featured a shower. A cooked to order breakfast was included in their reasonable nightly rate, and it was served in their bright and sunny dining room overseen by Gillian. Servings were so hearty, we often only needed a snack for lunch to tide us over until dinner. During our stay, the Devonian was fully booked almost every night (due to a train enthusiast's convention), so I would recommend making your reservations in advance. They only accept cash or check for payment in person, but we paid with our credit card via their website. On our last day, Kevin booked our taxi to the airport for a fixed rate. If we return to the Isle, we definitely would stay here again.
