The whole family was very sad that we wouldn't be together for our planned trip for commencement; it would have been only my second time to visit him there and the first time all together as a family, including some of our long-distance extended family. I knew that my brother was also heartbroken after how hard he and his classmates had worked in the last few years, especially since as a double composition major, the pandemic canceled the big senior year performance of his work that he had organized. I wanted to do more than flowers; he's a funny, creative, guy who would appreciate something outside the box. Plus, since I couldn't be there in person, I wanted a gesture big enough to show how much I wanted to be there celebrating him! THAT'S WHEN INSPIRATION STRUCK!!! I wanted to deliver some kind of message, but social distancing makes a lot of "event" style messages harder. And he lives in a tiny apartment near campus. So what could be better than delivering a LITERAL GIANT MESSAGE? I knew a ballon message was the way to go. I had used the big letter/number balloons before at a party, so I was prepared to pay a bit to make it happen. The challenge is, not only was it commencement weekend for several colleges and universities in Boston, it was also Mother's Day weekend. The word was it was going to be difficult to find a last minute delivery of any kind; my initial thought was to order online, schedule a pickup, and use a local courier from an app like Postmates or even TaskRabbit to deliver it, but 1) stores were either closes (Party City) or had no online presence and 2) I was concerned that a balloon bunch of this size would not fit in most Bostonian's cars. The next step was to get in touch with some local shops and just see what my options were; many balloon decorators use the large ABC balloons on event products but don't take smaller jobs or only do limited balloon bouquets, and many stores keep the numbers in stock for birthdays and don't have the letters at all without advance order. To Yelp!! When I saw Balloon City's reviews, two things that jumped out at me were "last minute" and "delivery", and they just happened to still be open (there's a time difference!), so I knew I had to give them a call straight away. I was so thankful I did. Christine couldn't have been better; she was so helpful (this was my first time ordering a balloon bouquet in advance!), and genuinely seemed happy to hear a little about my brother (she said they do event balloons for several Boston colleges including Berklee, so she feels the sadness of the canceled events too!). She was able to check her stock right away and give me multiple options. She was upfront about her concerns for the letters she only had 1 or 2 of; if something was wrong, there was no extra, so I'd need to be flexible. The price she gave me was less than my plane ticket had been, so while I was nervous to pay so much at first, I realized that this was the big gesture wanted since I couldn't be there, and I was happy to make it happen! She even called me shortly after completing my order to let me know all the balloons inflated great and were in good shape. The next morning, she also called me to help me get in touch with my brother and make sure she had the right phone number for him, so he could accept the delivery at his building entrance. We happened to all be on a video chat as a family just after his digital ceremony, including grandma and the aunts and uncles and cousins down south, so we all got to see his face when my ridiculous delivery arrived and brought it into his apartment! The next day, I made him put his cap back on and take a "graduation photo" in front of the message. I think it was the perfect way to give him a laugh and show him how aware and proud we are of his hard work, and also reflect the strange unique time it is right now in the world as we find creative ways to stay safer at home but still work and connect and celebrate. Thank you Christine and Balloon City! I highly recommend giving a call for any event. Don't be like me and wait until the night before, though, because if you want to spell out your love for someone in Boston, you want to give them time to order some back-up letters!

Working with Taylor and Missy at The Event Company made the tent and other rental details a breeze. They understood how important this event was to us and were extremely responsive and accommodating. After scoping out the yard with Taylor I was completely at ease that he understood what we needed. Missy was awesome, with a quick an accurate quote, answering my many questions, and updating the numbers and sizes of tables as we approached the big day. She was even able to accommodate a last minute request for some additional tables to be delivered the day of the wedding! The set up was smooth. Taylor was happy to shift the tent to my exact location and placed stakes in my preferred spots. When setting up the lights, Trevor was fine with moving them around to suit my needs. The guys that came to break everything down we're quick, quiet, and did so with no impact to my lawn, even after the rainstorm the day before. The quality and the level of service from the friendly, highly professional and hard working staff prior to, during and following our event beyond our expectations. It was a daunting experience to have to choose a tent company from the many companies available, however after meeting with Paul we easily knew we were with the right company. His first visit during the winter to explain the wide variety of options available was tremendously helpful and allowed us to plan how the venue would need to look, months in advance. We knew that Peterson's had a strong reputation for quality around Boston having provided flooring and tents for the Boston Red Sox to name but one client and though we were worried about the potential cost of the tent for our event, Paul worked with us to ensure that we were comfortable. One example is that we were unsure as to whether flooring would be required and unlike other companies who visited the site, he was very honest when he said that we would not need it based upon the ground that we were intending to use. They were also able to coordinate very smoothly with the catering company that we had selected, Tables of Content, and to ensure that all necessary tables, chairs and equipment was present. We did not have to be involved in this organization and between these two vendors the organization was impeccable. We may not have been exactly "easy" guests to work with, as we had invited guests from the UK and across the US and we wanted to offer them all an experience that would be unforgettable, and the large tent for 140 guests (40 x 80) with clear walls allowed us to enjoy the wonderful weather and to show the glorious scenery. Peterson Party Center is an established vendor which factored into our search when we were looking around Boston for a company to use for our wedding and we must add ourselves to their list of admirers. Peterson's made our wedding the talk of the town, the awe of our friends and neighbors, and the celebration of our lifetimes. We had Eureka "On the Spot" as the entertainment for our son's Bar Mitzvah and we highly recommend…read morethem to anybody considering them. Working with Rafi on setting up the event flow and discussing the details was super helpful and one of the few non-tedious aspects of orchestrating what felt like a wedding weekend! The entire team who were on site were phenomenal -- engaging, happy, helpful and fun for all our guests. We had a big group... 40 kids, 50 people around our (parents) generation, and about 30 in the grandparents generation, and people from each group commented about how awesome it was to have entertainment that was actually fun for people of all ages. We had the jigsaw puzzle maker, and people got to take home nice keepsakes, and we also had the escape room, which was a lot of fun! Kids were able to be successful at it, and it also challenged parents (I say this from experience!) We are grateful we don't have to plan another brit mitzvah, but if we did, we wouldn't hesitate to book Eureka again!

We couldn't be more pleased - I had guests of all ages coming to say that they did not realize a bar mitzvah could be so much fun. They truly made it a very enjoyable event for all. We had the games and puzzles, plus custom jigsaw making (was great as a bar mitzvah gift, rather than the more generic clothing items), Escape room (it was a hit with both kids and adults) and MC and DJ services. I want to separately say that having Rafi as a partner in event planning was invaluable - he came to the venue prior to the event, met with us several times, provided numerous suggestions and advice (on timing, music, highlights, etc.) and coordinated with the venue, caterers and photographer. Can't recommend them enough!
