This is a great place to bring the family to. Toni is great to work with. We will no doubt be staying here again.

The entire second floor has the four rooms available to guests and they have several with their own baths. We were the only guests that night, so it was super quiet! The first floor is where the yummy breakfast is served and Sharon goes all out with so many choices on what you can eat! Her waffles with fresh fruit were out of this world and the presentation makes you feel like a queen. I would defnitely recommend staying here to pamper yourself - even if just on a trip home or on your way to somewhere else instead of a destination getaway. Stop at the Route 66 Museum a block away, check out the old cars that come into town all the time and sit on the porch and wish you could live in such a friendly and peaceful place!!

Now its just a confusing mess unless you are a local or live in the area. Man i can't imagine being from out of town and stopping in there. Besides being a motel that gets used by hunters during shotgun deer season and a few construction crews every now and again i don't know how it remains open . Let me sum it up... Go here if your looking for a rough crowd in the basement bar and like ordering your room from the bartender so every biker in there knows where your staying . I f you are somewhat sane and like places that actually have an office and check in area with someone to help you.. look elsewhere..!.. Princeton and Spring Valley both have better. My experience i came into a stairway with a hand written note that said ''This WAY TO HELL' with an arrow pointing down the stairs. Yes i continued downstairs to a small bar with about 6 bikers who all stared at first like who the hell is this guy? I ordered a beer sat down and waited for my buddy from Aurora who was on his way down to deer hunt with me and stay at this place. After 1 beer the old crazy biker lady 2 seats to my left slid her empty shot glass down to me .. i immediately slid it back , this went on 3 or 4 times until she stood up in a drunken rage and tried to get in my face when her husband grabbed her and apologized . No big deal but i cant imagine wanting to sit through that to get a room ,because that's how it was a few yrs back you get your room downstairs from the bartender. Can't imagine being from out of town , needing a room and going through all that ,or being a non-drinker or having kids and having to haul them to the bar for a dang motel room. What a complete joke!! and a bad one at that. Unless they have completely changed this place and the owner could provide pictures of how friendly it is now , stay away from this place unless you love trouble.

Review Visit: October 28th, 2012…read more A place that brings back wonderful childhood memories. As a kid, this place was a destination for field trips. I remember coming out here ones or twice and having the time of my life. I blame these field trips for fostering my love for nature and being outside. So, it was only fitting that I revisit Wildlife Nostalgic Park... I mean Wildlife Prairie Park. WPP for short, this place is a fantastic destination for anyone living in Central Illinois or really anywhere in Illinois. During this fall visit, it was my girlfriend and my friend. We casually strolled the main parts while sipping some delicious coffee. The park had changed so much from when I was a kid. There were a few things I remember, but they have since expanded or updated mostly everything. They have a pretty cool snake area that is slightly modeled like a... snake. We played around on some trains and took some goofy photos with those "face cut out" displays. The bulk of the park are the nature preserves with wild floral and fauna. You could spend all day slowly walking through the park, seeing wild cows, wolves, deer, humans, birds, and various other interesting animals. Not only can you visit and see nature, they also have cabins/camping areas to rent out. I haven't personally done this as my group of friends aren't big into camping, but I would love to check it out some day. The prices seem really fair for what you get. Last but not least, they hold events throughout the year. Check out their website for details but I've been to their Ren Faire (Olde English Festival) and it was a blast. They also have a wildly popular Wildlife Scary Park each year for October/Halloween. One of my friends has a membership for WPP and said she has tickets to ride the train. Should this rain ever subside, I think it's time to take her up on her offer to go visit! We only have one Earth. Please treat it with respect. Don't litter. Recycle. Leave nature places cleaner than when you arrived. Future generations will appreciate it.

The rooms were nice but the maintenance was slow. I arrived the day of an ice storm. Checking in the parking lots were full sheets of ice, some.more than others. I stayed in building 9. I called the front desk 2x to inquire about getting the lot & sidewalks salted. I literally had to slide from my car to the door with luggage. I also watched a elderly man have to do the same. The lobby parking lot was so bad that i couldnt even pull in to parl my car because it was so icy, my car just kept sliding I understand the weather was bad, however it is a HUGE safety hazard to not even attempt to put down salt. Maintenance never came. On the day of checkout, the fire alarm went off in my room. There was no fire in my room so i called front desk to ask for maintenance to come by to shut it off because it wouldnt go off. 40mins went by & no one ever came (again), however when i stepped out of my room there was someone vacuuming in the hall & the housekeeper was a few doors down. So mucj for even checking to make sure things were okay. The biggest deal breaker was the false information, or bait switch that was done. I spoke with the Sales Rep, Sara, prior to my arrival to inquire about a discounted rate for travel nurses for 3-6nights for the next 14 weeks. She quoted me a rate less than $100 after taxes. When i called to book the rate for my future stays she gave me a rate totaling $122/night & stated that the other rate was for 30 day stays only. This was not the information that was given to me originally as i never inquired about 30days. I was quite disappointed in the fact that she changed the info she originally gave & the performance of maintenance. Bar service was good even though they closed an hr early almost every night. Also the guy at checkin was very unwelcoming, & short. He didn't do a good job of explaining how to use the drink tickets either or that you get a ticket every night. Due to this i missed out on some of my complimentary drinks. I mentioned several times that I was in town for work. Out of all the units they had they put me in the building where they were doing construction, which woke me up from my sleeps during the day. I work late nights so sleep in when I can. I'm not really sure why you would put someone that id there for business/work in a construction building, unless that was the last option. Thay didnt seem to be the case as the lot was pretty empty on all sides. Maybe in the future, if these things are resolved I'd return but for now I'll take my business elsewhere & will advise my colleagues to do the same. *stayed Jan '24*

Make sure you know how to reboot a WIFI. And, ask about the A/C which must be on some sort of preprogrammed setting. We happened to be there when it was quite hot, so we had to often set the A/C to manual to cool off. This condo was a great home base for our 4 day weekend. I had wanted to stay in a hotel, but my wife thought this would be more "homey" and see was right, it was a great decision. The only downside to us was that the toaster seemed to be hard-wired to the smoke alarm, but once we figured out to turn the exhaust fan one before we did any cooking all was well.
