My husband and I met David G. At the camping show in Rosemont Illinois. He seemed nice enough to my husband and I even though he made derogatory remarks about Four Star Campground. We decided not to check out Four Star because of the remarks he made. He said the campground housed all types of campers "he said transients" year round. He also said yeah go check them out then come by us. So I tried to book an appointment with David G. for the same day because my husband had a rare day off. David G. wasn't available so I tried to make an appointment for myself to come see the campground. He said, welllll, why not talk to your husband when he can make it. I said, he can't make it any other day because he works 7 days a week. He then said, welllll why not talk to your husband and when he can make it we will book the appointment. So I said you are basically saying you won't tour me until my husband is present. He said no but your husband will be involved in the decision so he needs to be present. I assured him I was capable of making a decision without him. But he kept saying talk to you husband. What's the matter with this guy? Is he living in the 1930's where a female can't make a decision? I have never been so insulted. He made me feel because I was a female i couldn't make this decision. David females (spouses) this day and age can make decisions, sign contracts and put deposits down without their husbands being present. Shame on you for trying to make me feel inferior. I don't recommend this campground to anyone. I also recommend David Goldman Goes on the internet to the EEOC site to refresh his memory on gender discrimination.

We had campsite 32, which provided a decent amount of tree cover and wasn't too far to walk to the restrooms. Mosquitoes were out of control, so be sure to pack proper clothes and a metric ton of bug spray. There were two vault toilets available in our loop - no running water there. Also no light inside, which is an adventure. Our picnic table was covered in bird poop and other debris from nearby trees. I'm used to roughing it, but this table was as bad as I've seen in a park. Maybe a lack of rain left it in such bad condition. I recommend bringing your own chairs and table if you can. The restrooms with running water were pretty disgusting. Why does every camp bathroom reek of urine? Do we not have functional plumbing in these things? Are guys just hosing down the entire building with piss and refusing to flush? It's insane. There was one very empty soap dispenser available and only warm/hot water coming from the faucet. Of course, you can't control your neighbors at a campground. Most folks were keeping themselves under control, but one group was watching a basketball game or something and the sound of the ref's whistle echoed throughout the camp. I understand that's not the campground's fault. It was disappointing to hear traffic while at the campground. I go camping to get away from it all. This was unfortunate. I might return to Illini State Park if I need a place to crash, but there was nothing special about this place other than its relative proximity to Starved Rock (which had no available campsites the day I was headed there). If you need firewood, you can grab some at the Shell station not far away at 1441 Columbus St, Ottawa, IL 61350.

The concept has appeal to it but at this location, you are not secluded by any means and it doesn't feel that way with all the other neighboring cabins right next door. With the height of the cabins, others can easily peer into yours as theyre walking by, so it def feels like there's a lack of privacy. The cabins are small and you dont really get any amenities.. so you cant help but question what exactly you're paying for On arrival to the cabin, the code provided to us wasnt opening the door so we had to take the time to contact the staff to get that sorted out. Getting to your specific cabin itself can be tricky itself so id recommend having the map handy thats given with the reservation or available online Once we got in, the cabin immediately smelled like smoke, which made the stay more unpleasant. The shower space is really cramped, which is expected but the amount of hot water wasnt nearly enough for two people to use back to back for even a moderately short wash (had to step out early as it got cold pretty quickly) There's silverware, dinnerware, and cookware with an electric burner available for use to cook or reheat food if you need. I liked that the bed had some space next to it by the window for my dog to rest by and look out of Overall, I think its a unique experience to have but I wouldn't feel inclined to do it more than once, at least without a more justifiable price. Perhaps I'd be open to giving another location a try.. but besides that, an Airbnb seems like a more reasonable choice

This way, we didn't have to transport any canoes. They took care of that. We made a 10 AM reservation, which gave us time to drive there and stop for breakfast. We were taken on a school bus with just one other family who was also renting canoes. They drove us to the starting point and we canoed back to Ayers. It was simply a beautiful trip! We saw deer, herons, turtles and lots of geese. The rocks on the sides of the river are amazing. There is a picnic area with bathrooms half-way through with bathrooms and then we canoed the rest of the way to Ayers. The only issue we had, was a small leak in the canoe. It wasn't a bid deal, but we did bail waiter one time.

The morning was bright and sunny. Our group of seven got geared up, and three of us jumped into a plane with our instructors, while the others waited for the next plane. My instructor's name was Adam, and he was scheduled to get married on the following Friday. So he said that jumping with me was the easiest thing he had to do all week! Adam made me feel very comfortable and relaxed. I never felt any fear, even when I was sitting with my legs dangling out of the plane at 13,000 feet. Adam's instructions were clear and concise. I got to pull my own ripcord and steer the parachute for a bit before it was time to land. I want to thank Skydive Chicago (and especially Adam) for an incredible experience. I hope the wedding went well, and I wish Adam and his new wife many years of happiness. I'll skydive again, and I will head back to Skydive Chicago to do it!
