Don't waste your time if you are needing medication therapy. As the doctor put it to me This Isn't a Pill Mill! You know when you've done everything looking for relief from a 24/7/365, solid 5-8 with spikes to 8-9 on the pain scale, medication therapy is a last resort most of the time. Of course he doesn't have to face this Monster so it's easy to dismiss us as people wanting to get high and not a measure of relief from chronic pain. Horrible Customer Service, didn't ever get to see the Dr. Will not comeback, nor recommend anyone to this "facility" either... If I could give Negative stars, I would... email to the Medical Center "Letting you guys know I cancelled my appt this morning at the Marble Falls location appt was at 9am asked to come in 30mins early, arrived at 8:35am receptionist was rude and condescending " What time was your appt?" she asked, I replied "9am but asked to come in at 830" Receptionist: "Oh, you know it's 8:35, that's not 8:30 you know" gave her the new patient forms. Receptionist: "Oh you didn't get the right forms" I am a geek I printed them straight from your website as instructed. Then in a rude tone: "Well, now you have to fill out the correct forms" My reply: "How about we do this, cancel my appt" and then left. Horrible place. The office staff is great, but as for the medical aspect of it, they are despicable!! They don't care! Shalyn was great when she was there. You got a sense of real caring. You absolutely don't get that from Jessica!! All you get from her is a sense of prissiness. And if you ever get on her bad side, she will do everything possible to make your life miserable. She's a little vindictive witch and that type of attitude has no place in the medical field. She should be replaced! If you need a prescription refilled on the weekend, forget it. It's not going to happen. They tell you to go to the ER. In other words the doctor on call doesn't want to be bothered. Isn't that why you have a doc on call? I guess they are only on call for the patients that just had surgery on Friday, everyone else be damned ! This place is supposed to be for pain management, but they are as far from pain management as any business I've ever seen my life!!! They obviously don't know the definition. I'm actually at a loss for words at how terrible this place is in performing what their actual duties should be in order to meet the definition of pain management!! Because they don't even come clos. I must continue to commend the staff, Shalyn, Liz and April! They are so companionate and thoughtful. I'm going through a 2 surgery recovery and they are just great! I cannot day enough good about them. One thing i might day is they do seem understaffed. You wouldn't know it though! read more

I have had to use Balcones Pain Management due to Worker's Compensation rules. This is most unfortunate. I was assigned Dr. Lowery and have been informed that I can't switch doctors within the practice. Dr. Lowery has the bedside manner of a cold fish. His attitude towards me was suspicious and dismissive of my pain, even after major surgery to correct the injury. It is clear that his specialty is a mismatch with his personality and life experiences, i.e. if you have never experienced chronic pain and/or are low on the empathy scale, perhaps pain management is not the best specialty. Overall I got the impression he suspected I was "drug-seeking." Unpleasant experience every time I have gone so I just stopped going. Maybe other doctors at this practice are different/better. I sure hope so. Try anyone else first. read more

Have been going here for over a year & at first was actually being helped. Just met my new doctor (not sure what happened with original doc) & to say was NOT impressed is an understatement. Was condescending, rude, didn't care what I said my pain level is at. Have been waiting for my next MRI since back pain has spread & gotten worse (claimed they sent request to insurance in October), but still reduced pain meds. If you want to be treated like a liar & talked to like a child, Dr. Ester is your guy. read more

I have mixed emotions about doing this review. I last saw the people here three years ago for hip pain, received some steroid injections and was a happy camper. The place was bright, clean, cheery, and the people very friendly if not charming. I was very pleased with the series of visits. I went back recently for knee pain and it was not the same place. The waiting room and furniture was shabby, the staff seemed indifferent, and even the medical equipment was well worn. The blood pressure cuff, a very inexpensive item, was very frayed just to mention one item. Dr Lowry, who seems competent, has little in the way of bedside manners, hardly spoke to me and seemed to be pushing a more expensive treatment at the onset. At the followup, the nurse practitioner scolded me for coming in with a contagious condition which was being treated, under control, and had been mentioned to staff there previously. Again it was more of a one way conversation in which the same more costly procedure was pushed. At the end I walked away thinking the whole operation was unprofessional with ulterior motives other than patient care, and that I probably wouldn't return there for treatment, sorry to say. They also charge a rather ridiculous no show fee of $50 for a nurse practitioner appointment and $100 for a doctor, and ask that patients show up a full 30 mins before the appointment. I showed up 20 mins early last time, there was one other person in the waiting room, and I was done and out the door by my actual appointment time. There is a decidedly patient unfriendly feel about the place now. I sincerely hope they get their act together. read more

My husband, Robert, has been going to Balcones for almost eight years now for pain relief due to the bulging, herniated discs in his mid back, T3,T4. Anyway, Robert has been on so much meds at a time I would wonder if he would wake up the next morning. Until Dr. Ximenez!!! That dr saved my husband's life!! Ximenez has been caring for him for 3 years. Then, unfortunately, Dr Ximenez had a family emergency and had to take a leave. THEN IT WENT TO HELL!! My husband had to see this new doctor, Gantry, who said he was from Chicago. He was so disrespectful!! Gantry talked down to my husband, spoke badly of Dr Ximenez, and said how he was having to "fix" all his patients since he left. Well Gantry will no longer have to worry about fixing anything because my husband will no longer be receiving care from Balcones. My husband will be following Dr Ximenez to Advanced Pain Care so that he can continue receiving the very best care!!! read more

I have been going to Balcones pain consultants for several years now. This place has been a godsend!! But my September visit this year was my life saving visit. I was scheduled to see Dr. Rey Ximenes for the first time. Over the last several months there had been some doctor changes. My previous Dr. had left and it was time for me to see my new one. I will be honest, I was pretty scared. I had been on the same medication, doing the same routine for a long time. I didn't want that to change. I am so very glad I didn't let my fears take control of me. Dr. Ximenes completely changed what I was doing, what I had been doing for years. It worked!!! I can't say that enough times!!! It worked!!! It worked!!!! This man saved my life!!! I'm happier, my family is happier and my life is so much better!! I can not praise him enough!!! I wish we would have come in contact years sooner. I don't write reviews, I've never even been on yelp, but my experience with Dr. Ximenes and Balcones pain consultants inspired me to do this. I absolutely love the staff and people at the marble falls location and can't thank them enough for helping me and my family out of a horrible situation!!! I take reviews very seriously, particularly in the case of recommending a physician as I always rely on them myself, that said I can assure you that I have had wonderful experiences with both the office staff and nursing staff at the Balconies Pain Consultants in Marble Falls during the numerous occasions I have been in the clinic. I have a terrible back problem, and have been in Major pain for several years, in trying to avoid the spinal surgery two surgeons have recommended I have been to several pain management doctors in my area and have undergone several painful steroid injection sessions to no avail. Well...Dr. Ozuna did it!! He has eased my suffering for the first time in nearly 4 long years and it was a completely painless procedure! The staff was great, they always are caring and considerate..I don't know why the first reviewer had such an experience/opinion, but please do not let an old review stop you from meeting Dr.Ozuna, he truly made such a wonderful difference in my quality of life!
