There's plenty of parking, even another lot with great views that we decided to hike to instead. The Quail Trail itself was beautiful and straightforward, even though it was a really hot day and I was definitely sweating! But the views were stunning. Just a heads-up though, we saw some poison oak with reddish leaves, so be careful not to stray off the path. It's a fantastic park, highly recommended, especially if you're planning a picnic.

I'm extremely disappointed with my recent experience at the San Bruno Recreation Center,…read morespecifically with an employee named Jordan. My son has come here many times to play basketball and previously enjoyed it, but after this experience he doesn't even feel comfortable returning. Jordan questioned my son's membership/age, told him his membership was invalid, and made him leave, even though another employee later confirmed that he still had 8 paid scans remaining. When I came in to ask questions and requested to speak with a supervisor, Jordan became confrontational, raised his voice at me in front of my children, and told me that if I continued being "rude and disrespectful," I could be kicked out and no longer welcomed at the facility. That was completely unacceptable to me. Parents should be able to respectfully question a policy or advocate for their child without being yelled at or threatened with removal from a community facility. I do want to recognize Kayla, who was incredibly kind, professional, and helpful. She showed that policies can be explained and enforced while still treating families with respect. I genuinely feel Jordan could benefit from additional training in customer service, de-escalation, and how to appropriately communicate with children and families. Working in a community recreation center means interacting with people of all ages, including children, and even when enforcing rules, those interactions should be handled calmly and respectfully. I've been part of the San Bruno community my entire life, so it's especially disappointing that my son and I now feel uncomfortable returning. I truly hope management takes this concern seriously and addresses it so families can feel welcome and respected here.

There's a lot of history here…read more For those who grew up in Chinatown in the '60's, '70's, '80's era, this park was always known as Chinese Playground. It was a popular after school destination for children who went to school or grew up in the neighborhood. Things were different back then. The playground remains three floors or levels but has been redesigned a couple of times, most recently within the last three years. The upper area along Hang Ah Alley used to be a tennis court to the left and a small volleyball court to the right as you enter. A set of stairs ran down between the two courts to a middle level, the largest section of the playground. To the left, there was small building which we called the clubhouse. Behind it, further left, there was a bench with a sandbox (remember those?) for small children to play. Inside the clubhouse, the director's office was to the right where you could borrow play equipment such as various types of balls to play basketball, volleyball, tennis, and handball or four squares (don't know if anyone remembers that game) - thanks, Doug the director. At the bottom of the stairs, there was a old version of monkey bars, a circular metal structure with dangling chains with metal rings to do pull ups or to swing around. To the right , there were a set of swings, six of them as I recall. Near the Sacramento St. entrance, there was a metal merry-go-round as well as a ladder guided slide. There were another set of stairs that led to a asphalt basketball court. There was a gated entrance from Waverly Place there. Fast forward and my photos tell it all. Since I work during the day, I cannot comment on the volume of usage for the current version of the playground. I noticed that the place is mostly empty whenever I pass by. A building replaced the basketball court, apparently now used by CYC, a community non-profit. Not sure how utilized the place is and hope the neighborhood schools do during the school year.
