I've suffered from anxiety and depression for the last two decades. Recently, I've been having…read moredebilitating anxiety attacks, to the point that I've been let go from two different jobs. Yesterday morning, I was supposed to start a new job, then BAM, panic attack. I was unable to start the new job. After sobbing for a few hours, I decided to research mental health facilities. I decided that this cannot continue, that I desperately need help. I came upon the website for Texas Health Springwood Behavioral Health Hospital. I searched the website for any information regarding financial assistance, as I don't have health insurance. To my surprise, I found a link titled "financial assistance", and a teensy glimmer of hope began to build. I opened the link and read more about it. I finally worked up the nerve to call the free assessment number(my fellow anxiety sufferers know how hard this can be), and spoke with a helpful gentleman that set an appointment for me for that afternoon. I showed up for the assessment, still with that small glimmer of hope that I may actually get some help. That I may be able to actually start living my life again. When asked what brought me into the facility, I opened with "hopefully I'm not wasting my time, but I saw on the website that financial assistance is available...and due to my debilitating anxiety, I'm unable to hold a job and don't have insurance." At that point, the assessment began. It went well, albeit I was quite upset/panicked due to the fact that it's hard to be vulnerable and talk about very personal issues. The two ladies that assessed me(forgive me, I don't recall their names) were professional and compassionate. After the assessment, they both left the room to evaluate my answers and determine what type of treatment would be best. When they returned, they recommended a program for me and then informed me that the facility "does NOT offer financial assistance" and that I'm "not the only person to say they've seen that on the website". This totally devastated me. To get someone's hopes up, only to be crushed, is cruel no matter the circumstances(mentally healthy or not). To be clear, I don't hold either of these caring ladies responsible. They did print out a few counseling resources near me and seemed genuinely apologetic. However, it is irresponsible for the website to have a link titled FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, containing information regarding FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE if they do not truly offer it. He hardly said anything again! At the end of the session, I asked how long he had been doing this type of work and he said 20 plus years. I thought to myself, well you have no clue what you are doing! I could do that job! You don't need a degree to sit and just listen! Mike Peter's has no business being in that profession! He is just aweful!!! He tells you at the end "My time is up"! That is rude! I am there to talk with someone and you are more worried about your time!

The staff at this location set all the expectations and processes were discussed regarding my child…read morebefore starting therapy. After starting therapy none of the information, expectations, or procedures discussed were implemented. It took 4-5 weeks to get any kind of traction with staff, emails, phone calls, meetings. 0 percent of expectations and procedures were being met; in addition to several severe injuries they had no idea had occurred nor could explain even though it is always meant to be one adult to one child. With all these problems and injuries they continued to push and push for my child to attend more hours with little to no regard for the child. We spoke to the regional director and asked for help with all this, requested a new person (BCBA) to take charge of my child's case or to move to a different center with someone else lead in my child's case, all requests were declined and once again they persisted my child needed to attend more hours or would be expelled from the program altogether. We have since pulled our child out. From our experience at this center, the conclusion is they do not care about the children.

My attitude changed instead of walking around with my head down I walk around with pride and joy!
