Sure, Tagaytay has become the most congested weekend getaway in Luzon, but it's still a nice place to visit if you have somewhere to go. Sadly not everyone owns a a house on the hills, but there are some places that you can rent if you want to stay overnight. Aside from boutique hotels, one possible accommodation is Balai Taal. It's a house in a large compound in one of the less frequented areas of the ridge, but it has one of the best views of Taal Volcano. The balcony on each floor opens up into a 180 degree view the surrounding area, with the volcano in the center. The house is pretty big, however, so you'll have to bring a large group in order to occupy the whole balai. There's a dining room on the first floor and rooms on the upper floors, while a garden awaits outside. The place can actually serve as a function room as well, and I've been to small, intimate wedding receptions here. While the view at night isn't as spectacular, I can imagine lunch receptions being wonderful. If you have enough friends or family and can afford it for the weekend, it's one of the few places left in Tagaytay where you can really unwind. read more
