I visited Balada Burger late at night and had an less than stellar experience. After we sat down, it took over five minutes to see a server, and we ended up having to flag him down to order. It looked like he was busy with takeout orders and appeared to be working alone.
I ordered the Brooklyn burger, which comes with a fried egg and bacon on a brioche bun. I skipped the egg, but the burger itself was solid and the fries were good. If you're used to American-style seasoning, you might find the fries a little light on salt and want to add some or use ketchup.
While we waited, we eventually were the only customers left and the staff started cleaning up around us, spraying and wiping tables, moving chairs from outside, and even mopping nearby. It's a pretty small space, so it felt a bit awkward trying to finish our meal with all that going on. We ended up asking for our food to go and finished it back at the hotel.
On the way out, we noticed some of the staff at another nearby spot, so it seems like they might be splitting time between places, which could explain the slower service.
Overall, the food was good, but the service and timing could use some improvement, especially for tourists. read more
