It was my and my husband's first time visit after moving in Davis 2 yrs ago. We liked our eye doctor in the city we lived in before, and for a while we were not sure if we wanted a new doctor in Davis. My neighbor recommended us visit Dr. Baker and he was right. It was a great visit. We found Dr. Baker a very nice guy, listening and quite patient. He also tried to learn different cultures and languages, making our conversations with him personal. Dr. Baker looked into my husband's vision coverage which we thought canceled as we have our insurance on me. They found his coverage was valid, so our copay was even waived. Nobody ever done this for several yrs, so we didn't know we were over-paying! Staffs were nice there and very organized, too. I strongly recommend Dr. Baker if you want an eye doctor who actually cares for you, your eyes and your wallet. read more

I had an uncomfortable eye issue, likely an infection. I got in to see a doctor quickly, the same day. i am a regular patient here and love this office. The staff here is pleasant and very competent. The office is clean, spacious and easy to get to & to find parking. My daugher recommended Dr. Baker to me, so I decided to try him. I thought Dr. Baker was amazing, his staff is another story. I went to pick up my glasses and needed to have them remade because the bi-focual made me dizzy. The person who helped me with my glasses, said no problem, we can remake the glasses (distance) and order a second pair (for reading). I received a text saying the glasses were ready, I called and it was confirmed that the glasses were ready. I told the receptionist that my daugher would be picking them up, she said okay. When my daughter showed up, a woman said they did not have them. Anyway... six weeks went by, I called again, my second pair was never made. The office manager said she would give me 30% discount, higher than the ususal 20%. At this point, I should get a 50% discount. Needless to say, I am not happy and I still don't have any glasses. My initial visit was August 8th, and today, it is September 24th. read more

The staff here is amazing! As someone who once struggled with social anxiety, they truly put me at ease. I was a patient with Helmus + Baker before the split. After the split, I continued going to Helmus, but with every visit I wondered why I didn't see the same familiar faces in the office. After a few years, I learned that some the staff went over to Baker Optometry and I instantly knew I had to switch. The staff are warm, easy going, respectful and very patient. They take the time to break down your insurance coverage and provide very helpful insights when you're unsure about your frame or lens choices. I always appreciate their recommendations. They give their honest opinions without pressuring me to make a choice I'm uncomfortable or unhappy with. At my last appointment, I saw Dr. Xhemalaj. He was personable and professional. He kept conversation appropriate and polite without getting too personal, much to my relief. I especially appreciate that he answered my questions respectfully and patiently. Terrible service. I got a pair of glasses there and it's not comfortable. I ask for exchange, they took TWO months to do that. It is obviously out of my time schedule and I want to refund. They say already made for you and put the responsibility to the lens company. I never have any problem on refunding a glasses before in other stores. It is an unfair clause. read more

I scheduled my appointment and within 10-minutes after receiving the online confirmation, I received a call verifying my visit, along with detailed instructions on finding their new location. I arrived a few minutes early, reviewed my information and minutes later Dr Baker was greeting me with a warm smile and outstretched hand. I was a patient of his for several years at his previous location, and he warmly thanked me for trusting him and his team with my vision needs. The new place is fabulous, the service top notch coupled with exceptional care and attentiveness. After the exam, I tried on dozens of frames and Lisa helped me pick out a pair that we both liked (and polar opposite of what I thought I wanted). I appreciated her candor and suggestions. I have come to expect exceptional when I visit Baker Optometry. Anything less than that would be a disappointment. I haven't been disappointed since I switched to Dr. Baker a few years ago (I wasn't really excited about my previous optometrist and the one I really liked retired). So, when I hurt my eye, I saw Dr. Baker. I was so impressed that I decided to make him my regular optometrist. Every visit since then has been exceptional. The office staff is amazing. Dr. Baker is thorough, easily understood, and seems passionate about helping his patients. I really trust him with my eye health. He's also very easy to talk to, something I found lacking in some health care professionals I have visited in the past. I have recommended Baker Optometry to numerous friends. Two days ago, I had an urgent concern about my vision and called for an appointment thinking it would be at least a day or more before I could come in. Dr. Baker's staff got me onto the calendar for that same afternoon. My vision trouble turned out to be an ophthalmic migraine, which wasn't a big deal after all. Pretty awful customer service - promised to ship contacts to my home address, but never did it. My daughter is out of country and cannot pick them up. When I called 1st time they apologized that it was their fault as they forgot to mentioned to my daughter that it needs to be paid for. Again, apologized and promised that because it's their fault they will ship it at no cost. Than 2 weeks later when I called again it appeared that they didn't even bother to fulfill their promise.
