Getting our 1 day visa to Mexico
Yasmin D.

09/21/18 it's my birthday weekend and the best way to spend a long weekend is by planning an adventure I've never been. Yelp search for 1 day Baja tours...Baja Border Tours was best rated. I checked out the website, emailed, and booked it. If you're a skeptic about doing a day tour to Tijuana, book your tour with Baja Border Tours. Why? 1. They answer your emails and whatever questions you have from time of pick up, where, and who will pick you up (comes with the photo) 2. Everything on their website is true 3. They call you (even if you're unable to answer and a voicemail message was left, they call again)...still skeptic? Ok read on... Eddie and I arrived way too early to our pick up place (I was excited) and our tour guide West called and he'll be arriving shortly. Upon meeting West and exchanging pleasantries, he will get to know you. West is an observant tour guide. He anticipates the needs of his small group tour and gives you enough time to explore the places from Tijuana-Rosarito-Puerto Nuevo and back. I liked the way he called us by our names and made sure that we are having a good time. He's passionate with what he's does and he'll let you step out of your comfort zone (in a good and safe way don't worry) That being said expect the unexpected in this tour...from the stories, the food, the drinks, the people and the memories of the tour. Come with an open mind and discover the adventurous side of you. Remember that its you who make memories of your adventure, the rest are add ons. You may now pass this way twice so make the most of it! Enjoy the pictures!

This tour was amazing and I'm sad it has taken me 3 months to finally post about it. Excellent tour guide, you can't ask for a better experience. He made us live through comedy, drama and even suspense. Hands down, if you want to do a day tour of Mexico this is the one you sign up for. Make sure you bring cash for purchases (dollars).

Given the chance, I will definitely go again for Baja Borders!!! Highly recommended day tour !!!! West is a tour guide with a big heart! He is loved by those people whom we have encountered during tours. He is so patience, mostly w/kids=) It is a small sized group and it is so personalized. West will make you feel easy, safe and comfortable. So many words to say but i can sum it up in three words: great, wonderful and amazing tour! Thank you West! My group/family enjoyed it a lot!

If you are looking for a tour off the beaten path in Mexico with a tour guide who bust his butt to make sure you have a great time this tour company is for you. West's tours aren't the same boring and scripted tours you find with the bigger outfitters, they are personal and catered to you. You're going to eat A LOT of great food , go to street corners and parts of Mexico you wouldn't dare go on your own. Be prepared for 10+ hour adventure and to be absolutely stuffed with food by the end of it, it's well worth it. I'm pretty sure West knows everyone in Mexico, at every stop their seemed to be a pile of people he connected with. Be sure to bring a bunch of $1 bills for tipping in addition to any money you bring to buy souvenirs. West makes the process of getting back and forth the border quick and as easy as possible, be sure to bring your passport. Thanks again West for making our anniversary enjoyable and memorable

Even though I live in SoCal, I've only been to Mexico one other time. Upon searching for a tour, Baja Border Tours seemed the most comprehensive and all of the positive reviews helped with my decision making. I was in communication with West and his wife prior to the tour- they were very responsive and detailed. On the actual day, it was no exception. We were picked up and greeted by West. He provided thorough explanations of what he had planned for us and he squeezed in some great surprises as well. He was not only hospitable, but loved to crack jokes. He took care of everything and ensured everyone's needs and requests were met- in fact, he exceeded our expectation. The 12 hour tour from TJ to Rosarito to Puerto Nuevo was filled with fun, food, and culture. Definitely a must book if you're interested in touring more than just Tijuana!

This review is loooong overdue. Back in October of 2019, my significant other and our 13-year-old daughter booked this amazing tour! One of the BEST tours we have taken. Our tour guy West was professional, awesome, funny, a GREAT photographer and always made sure we felt safe. This tour included LOTS of food (you will not go hungry, I promise), history, art and even gives you time to explore on your own. This tour really will exceed your expectations and is an awesome way to get around Baja Mexico. Looking forward to booking with Baja Border Tours again, but this time for their Mexico Wine Tour. I would also like to mention our tour guy West was kind enough to mail us a sweater we left behind in his van. Thank you again West.

Let me just start by saying I've been on a lot of tours. City tours, food tours, hop off and on tours, etc. No tour will ever compare to this one. This is not just a tour. This is spending an entire day with a tour guide who is absolutely in love with Mexico. The amount of passion the tour guide has for for Mexico is unbelievable. This tour lasted about 12 hours but it was the most informative, fun, exciting tour I've ever been on. There was not a single moment where I was bored. We went to the beach, saw the art culture in Mexico, had an emotional moment at the border wall, met with locals about their life in Mexico, and most of all constantly ate. I can promise you will not go hungry on this tour. I can also guarantee you will have the most fun of your life if you choose this tour over any other Mexico tour.

I chose Baja Border Tours over other tours because it seemed to offer a more educational, cultural, and scenic experience, and it was more than what I expected! West Barba is the best tour guide ever. He's so professional, social, and is understanding of and quick to addressing people's needs. He has organized his tours to a tee! It's incredible. West understands vibes, scenic views, and good food. I recommend it to everyone of all ages!

Sunset at Cuatrocuartros winery. So gorgeous!

My husband and I vacationed for 2 weeks in La Jolla in July 2018. Prior to arriving there from Phoenix, I researched the myriad of border tours, as my husband and I love Mexico, its people, its food, its wine, its culture. My husband and I wanted to "experience" Mexico, especially the food and the local wineries. I could not find a tour that did both food and wine for a reasonable price. They all seemed...well, touristy, catering to the cruise-line crowd, with little to offer. THEN I found "Baja Border Tours!" The company had nothing but FIVE STAR reviews! So I picked up my phone and called. A man named West answered the phone and he spent 20 minutes answering all my questions. I was SOLD! We booked a tour for July 5, 2018. It was 7:40 a.m. when we met the bubbly, cheerful West (who owns the business and conducts all the tours) at a gas station close by where we were staying in La Jolla. He whisked us off to pick up four other couples who would be making the trek South of the Border with us. We were so looking forward to this trip. West is an amazing Colombian man, who will create an experience for you like no other. He absolutely LOVES what he does and his only goal is to make sure you are treated like a rock star. The trip started at the border where we checked in with authorities. Then across the border we went with the first stop in Tijuana at a wonderful, quaint, little Mexican restaurant that served us up street side with some of the biggest and most delicious Tamales we've ever had (and we live in Phoenix where Tamales are plentiful). We filled our bellies on these amazing gems. My husband and I were hungry, having had no breakfast--anticipating Mexican delicacies (as West promised when I first called him). We each had two tamales--one beef--one pork belly--and a few samples of corn Tamales, and even a bite or two of a strawberry tamale. Yes! A strawberry tamale! West gave us a short history on the border wall and how families from both sides connect with each other and even introduced us to a man who runs a shelter for refugees that desired to cross over to the U.S. A great experience. Soon we were off to the next stop...driving further south into Mexico, headed to Rosarito--and all along West talking, joking, telling us stories and giving us historical perspective of the people and the culture. Not long after the Tamale binge (West did warn us to go easy on the food at first because there would much more food to be had), we stopped for street tacos at a road side stand which was soooooo good! No, more than good...these street tacos could be served up in a 5-star restaurant for $$$$. The two men preparing the tacos for a huge crowd in open air were masters at their craft, as they busily carved meat from a spit and added it to the grill with fresh guacamole sauce and Pico. Still full from the Tamales, we each gobbled down two tacos (mine were spicy--just the way I like it) and fully enjoyed every single bite. From here, it was back in the van and headed to our first wine tasting. We pulled up to the most spectacular restaurant in downtown Rosarito. The interior of the restaurant and the wine cellar was like stepping back in time to Old Mexico. We felt like we were in a movie. We met the restaurant owner and enjoyed wine that was out of this world and warm, freshly made tortillas. After downing a couple of bottles of terrific wine, West let us loose to experience all the wonderful shops nearby. Here we gained a driver named Aaron--who is an amazingly hard worker, relieving West from his driving duties, so he could spend more time with us in the van. From here, we traveled for quite some time into the beautiful wine country of Mexico. We stopped at an Organic winery where my husband and I tasted and discovered wine so good that we bought a couple of bottles to bring home. Here we enjoyed cheese, bread, salsas & jam with our wine. A wonderful experience here and the people who run the winery so very friendly and accommodating. I would be remiss if I did not mention in this review how much LOVED West is by the Mexican people. He knows EVERYONE (and even has the Churro maker at the border on speed dial--but that's another story for another day), and it was abundantly apparent to us that everyone we came into contact with revere him as he is so kind and loving and generous to these people. The next stop was at another winery/full service restaurant (mind you, we were still full from the tamales, tacos, cheese, jams, salsas and wine we just had) where we were served an amazing 3-course lunch. Then off to two more wineries--the last one being the most amazing. West timed it at sunset, high on a hill overlooking the ocean. HEAVEN! I have maxed out on words for this review--Yelp won't allow more. I could write much more. We arrived home at midnight! It was a FULL and AMAZING day! Don't miss out on West's tour. It will be a trip of a lifetime! We love you, West! Thanks so much!

Actually, i strongly recommend it, but NOT WITH VISTA TOURS. They took us on a small bus with no room to move. They failed to provide handicap accessibility for my husband who has had two back surgeries and uses a cane when walking any distance. Also, he is 6'4". THE ONLY SEAT went to a nasty 5' woman who did not need any help. She never walked, she ran, especially to grab the seat. I asked the tour guides to assist my husband for the handicap seat and they failed to handle the situation. Instead they chose to ignore it. When we called to discuss it with the Vista Tours, it took two calls. NO RETURN CALLS! Finally, we tried again and was given to VICTORIA, WHO IS IN CHARGE OF THE MESS!! Wow, nasty woman. She had already looked into it and said no one wrote down my husband needed the handicap seat. She said no way were we to get a refund. My husband was in bed for two days with pain due to needing to sit sideways in the only seats in the back where he could put his legs up. No apology just said goodbye and hung up. LAST TIME. Later, we received a call from someone else who said he failed to put down my husband's needs. Anyone hear of ADA? I strongly urge you to find another choice. These people are rude, lack any kind of understanding, fail to address the need for ADA and on and on. Could not say enough at how horrible they made the trip. At 5'2" I was miserable, can you imagine a 6'4" man with a bad back? Shame on them!!!!

Unfortunately, our experience, especially on the return trip, was far from what we expected. Our trip started with a pickup at one of San Diego's airport parking lots, accommodating 26 guests. The driver communicated clearly about everything we needed to know when crossing from San Diego into Mexico. He was excellent--unfortunately, I didn't catch his name. However, the return journey from Mexico was a completely different story. We were dropped off a full city block away from the border, and the driver informed us that we had to take all our belongings with us. Keep in mind, this included 10-15 adults, 10 children, car seats, bundles of water, snacks, luggage, and everything else needed for an entire family vacation. We paid for safety and convenience, but that was not what we received. The driver's shift had ended, so he dropped us off and left. If the company knew this in advance, you should have had a backup bus ready at the drop-off point, arranged for a driver switch, or provided a driver with a full shift to complete the job. We had to abandon our paid-for water and somehow managed to haul the kids and luggage to the border, where we waited 3.5 hours in line to get through customs. On the bus, we had access to snacks and a restroom, but waiting in line with little to no food, hungry and tired children, and the need to pay for restrooms was an unacceptable situation, especially given the premium we paid for your service. After finally getting through customs, we had to walk another 2.5 city blocks to reach the waiting bus. Our final stop was only 20-30 minutes away, but the inconvenience and lack of communication from Five Star Tours made the entire experience incredibly frustrating. I cannot recommend your company for any tours or travel, and based on what I've seen on Google reviews, many other customers feel the same way. To Five Star Tours: You need to do better. Instead of ignoring customer feedback, start reading, listening, and learning from these mistakes. Show future customers that you've improved and are committed to delivering the service you promise.

No regrets booking with Royal Lines Charters for a company outing this past July!…read more I began researching two months in advance on how to get my team of 25 to and from SD/OC and Royal Lines delivered. I worked alongside Elaine who answered all my questions and concerns, including the the recent low starred ratings. It was an honest and humbling exchange and really eased my leadership team to move forward with the booking. Elaine was so knowledgeable with the industry and events in/around SD and OC during my timeline (I.e. ComicCon, Disney's Grad night). Once booked, Loraine and George took care of the backend, while Rick was assigned as our driver the day of. The mini coach arrived on time, clean, and cool, combatting the summer heat.
