Soooo many books that are so neatly organized with a great vibe. Shelves are organized by theme/category and the store is nice and bright, unlike most book stores. The main floor is all fiction and has a small new books section with lots of local Nova Scotia selections. There are also journals and beautiful cards you won't find elsewhere and a large selection of books from local publishers. There's also a nice quaint seating area at the front of the store where you can get lost in a book while looking up to see the world go by on the front street. The upstairs is all non-fiction and an absolute paradise with topics broken down to nature and woodworking and even a section on alcohols and wine. This makes books easier to find and so much more fun. Lots of little seating nooks upstairs with tables, chairs and even a nicely hidden couch. The only downside of this place is that it is two floors so it's not fully accessible. Sadly, Nova Scotia lags severely in accessibility legislation, so this is a common problem theme. If you're looking for something, the owner is friendly and helpful over phone or email. You can connect before arriving to see if they have a certain book in stock. Come with lots of extra time because you will lose track of it!

Crooked Timber Books is a real jewel located in downtown Digby. It carries used books, records and…read moregifts and everything is in good shape and reasonably priced. The store itself is also very cute. It is a nineteenth-century house and every room, including the kitchen, is covered in beautifully arranged bookshelves. Specialties include cookbooks, fiction and children's books but there's plenty to be found on many different topics. If you're looking for rare items, gifts for friends, or a novel to read on the ferry, make sure to check out this shop as you tour southwestern Nova Scotia.

Many students will sell their old textbooks here and some (I'm not sure about all) professors at Acadia will order their books through him instead of the campus book store because it costs the students less. Yesterday, I had the very good fortune to talk with Jodi. She halped me with some information I was needing. When asked, she then took me to 3 books she highly recommended. We got into an in depth discussion re favourite books. She was very animated and eager to share her thoughts about her favourite books. I loved the experience and bought one of the books she recommended. When I went to the cash, I was speaking with the associate and she eagerly recommended a series of books I never would have known about had she not mentioned it. She directed me where to go in the store to find. It. I regret I forgot to get her name. I had a wonderful time browsing but these 2 women made my experience there even better by their service, their eagerness to recommend books and to discuss their plots, etc. I would highly recommend this store for many reasons and top of the list is the service from the associates. I love the personal touches like staff picks on the books with the associates name. I also love that each staff member has a features recommended book with a handwritten note of their comments for their choice. Ita a large store however the service and personal touches make it so enjoyable to go in store to browse and buy things and to I teract with the staff. Not this gs you can find when shopping online.
