This is a well-maintained state park that is suitable for folks of all ages. Great for relaxing…read morewalks with your pets and family, swimming, biking and solo trips. Although quite crowded during weekends, the trails are quiet for the most part. My husband & I took the Soapstone trail to the beautiful Cascade falls and it didn't disappoint. The path was clean & easily accessible. Although rocky at a few places and had a creek crossing, our 3-mile hike went by quickly. After the hike, we couldn't miss visiting the popular attraction - the Swinging Bridge. It did scare me a bit while walking on it lol but for the view and the cool breeze blowing, I'd definitely visit it again. Parking: $3 per vehicle Amenities: Picnic tables, kids playground, barbecue grill, swimming, camping etc

We had a nice walk at this State Park. Good trails were around the area. But if you're looking…read morefor a BIG waterfall, be ready to be disappointed BIG time! We went maybe 0.25-0.50 miles and saw a crowd of people with professional DSLR cameras, tripods and whatnot for a tiny, maybe 3-feet fountain. LOL! If you're a fan of really BIG waterfalls, go somewhere else. The main trail wasn't that long, so we had to spontaneously plan to walk around elsewhere, made it a good enough hike to get some exercise in for the day. Wouldn't say it was that scenic as some pond we encountered was all full of mossy and swamp things. The only good things were taking some nice pictures near the beach area, the bridge and hanging out with our friends during the whole time we visited the park.

The maze of features are y'all enough so that adults can access all elements and thus play with or keep track of their kids, which is a HUGE plus. I would have listed a 5+ except for the two broken features

I have beautiful toddler, and she has a crazy over protective father. So we tend to stay away from crowds, especially bigger kids. So I look on Yelp to see what else was near and I find Long Gate Park. We make the trip over which was maybe 10 minutes away, and when we get there i'm blown away. This place is nice! We park the car (the lot is huge, its actually a park and ride), and head down to the play area. This park is very well kept. No high grass, No trash, Nice equipment. The park has 2 play areas. The first one is huge, and takes up the majority of the play area, and is where most of the kids play. The other is smaller, and off to the side. Perfect for that over protective parent who feels the need to isolate, but all the kids there today looked to be 3 and under. So I let my daughter go where she pleased. There is a pavilion area near the playground with a grill, and a bathroom with water fountain on the opposite side of the grounds. Behind the bathroom are tennis courts, and also a trail to walk or bike. Therw are benches all around the play area, and most of them have canopies above. There is also wall climbing and a basketball court. The main play area has shade from overhead canopies throughout the equipment, and safety rails all over. The park sits on recycled rubber, so no dirt or annoying wood chips. There is also another area of the park that has a baseball field, more pavilions, and an athletic complex. Easily one of the better playgrounds in the area. I will definitely be returning in the near future.

After building spaceships we were taken to the planetarium so the kids could travel to space. The kids loved seeing the different stars and planets. I enjoyed the show myself as well. It's been quite some time since I've been to a planetarium. After the initial show the kids ate pizza and cake and then returned to the planetarium. The second time in the planetarium they watched a movie about the stars and evolution. It looks like there's so much to see and do here, I'll definitely have to return to experience some of the other things they have to offer. However, I can definitely recommend having a kids party here. I would say ideally for someone in kindergarten and older.

We frequent the outdoor areas with our family. They have short easy hikes that cross a little creek, excellent for kids. There is a playground with a slide, hammocks, musical instruments, building blocks, and a mud kitchen. They put on outdoor plays and they have a kids garden area where they host events and classes. We prefer the outside to the inside. The inside has a discovery play room for kids with some creatures, toys, and dress ups. There are a couple exhibits and animals to view inside as well. We attended a 3 year old birthday party here and it was a hit. They have different themes and activities. This one had a play and the kids got to meet and touch a turtle.
