The tiled shower is very large and inviting, and the shower-head was large and under full pressure. The shower is why this establishment receives a greater-than one-star rating. Now, for the rest: the bedroom was disgustingly musty and there was visible water-damage on the ceiling. The smell from the mildew was overpowering and infected everything. The room's air was so damp and humid that even the sheets felt wet! Had I not needed a room late at night while traveling, and had I other options, I would have left this place. In fact, I should have left and slept in my vehicle- it would have been that much better. The bathroom layout is atrocious. When you open the door, the toilet is right in front of you... in the middle of the room! There is hardly enough room to walk around the commode in order to access the sink. The sheets were stained and looked dirty. I felt the need to inspect the bed and surrounding area for bugs. One more very important notice to anyone foolish enough to lodge here in the future: the curtains in my second-story room could not be pulled fully shut. As a result, there was a gap between curtains which allowed a stream of bright light to cascade into the room from the adjacent shopping center... all night long. It was awful. The staff were polite, and the young girl with the face full of piercings listened professionally and attentively to my concerns while I checked-out of the hotel. I will never return here. I will never recommend this place. Oh, and before I forget... there is no coffee maker in your room. If you want a cup of coffee you'll have to wait until at least 6am when the staff will brew a pot downstairs. That was frustrating, because I was awake all night in this nightmare room and was longing to leave when my darling wife awake at 5:45 a.m., and it would have been nice to have a cup of coffee in the room.

So, I…read morecalled The Cake Lady at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon for a special last minute request (they closed at 2:00 p.m.)... any chance they could deliver a cake! I was amazed and so happy - not only did they have an extra cake available, they decorated it and delivered it to him on campus the same day! That is going way above and beyond a customer's request. It's hard enough when your "child" is away at college and you miss his birthday for the first time but The Cake Lady truly made me not feel as bad! All in all we had a lot of fun and even met some people we knew through just a degree or two of separation. This is indeed quite a cozy little cove, with boats for rent (both fishing and pontoon), a dock with waterslide for socializing, a volleyball court, lots of fire pit and grilling areas, covered picnic area, small beach, and some (not great) paddleboats and canoes available. The cottages themselves, well, let's just say our situation was a bit of a hot mess. We were in one of the two interior cottages of the 4-in-1 building (smallest offering, as there were only two of us). We experienced LOTS of issues with MICE, missing silverware, noise (due to close proximity to other cottages), and quality of furnishings/fixtures. However, what we quickly found out was that a) the owners only recently acquired the property, b) they are young with kids of their own, and c) are VERY responsive and accommodating, SO easy to work with, very apologetic that their cleaning staff dropped the ball, and overall just so sweet and helpful. We would gladly go back with a group and get a big cabin for a long weekend. The location is close to everything in nearby civilization, which isn't saying a lot, but if you're going to the middle of nowhere, it's nice to know you're in the epicenter of activity. Good experience, just take it with a grain of salt as they get their bearings.

Joey and Allison literally treated me like a family member with their genuine hospitality and generosity. They have a cozy tavern downstairs where nice locals hang out and a garden bar upstairs where they serve food and/or have live music on select nights. Bars are open Thursday through Saturday -- Thursday is pizza night where the owners personally cook amazing pizzas w/ a heck of a good sourdough crust topped with fresh local Amish cheese.
