This train station is located in a truly spectacular surrounding. When you arrive at the train station you are offered wonderful views of the Eiger. While many tourists will use the train year-round, it is also a form of daily efficient transportation for many between Grindelwald and Wengen.
I visited the station on several occasions during a week of skiing. If you're planning to take the train to the Jungfrau, this stop is where you would switch. As a result, you'll see a variety of visitors in the train station area during the winter: locals, skiers, and non-skier tourists alike.
If you are skiing, the station dumps you right next to the piste. A short walk will get you skiing (head towards the Coca Cola tipi). Whether you are skiing or not, there are several slopeside restaurants and bars that offer both indoor and outdoor dining/drinking options as well.
One tip is if you are carrying skis across the tracks to start skiing, be careful not to drop your skis in the greasy part of the track as that grease may stick with you for a while (one of my friends mistakenly did this and had a mess on their coat later on).
Whether you are skiing, hiking, or not, this really is a wonderful vista to take in and this train ride is memorable. read more
