This is the main station at Zurich and u can get anywhere from this station. There were plenty of signs to navigate thru. They had kiosks throughout the station to purchase tickets and passes, although it can be very confusing the very first time. There were ticket offices and service centers to assist travelers with any travel needs. The station is full of restaurants..... fast food and sit down, cafes and bakeries. You name it!! There were numerous shopping stores, from clothing to electronics to souvenirs to travel stuff etc. If u need help, just ask anybody and they will be more than happy to guide u to the right place.

They still don't even have a proper Kiosk, just a temporary stand to serve snacks and drinks. But now, there are brand-new stairs and elevators, a glossy lit bus station in the middle, and I think they are continuing renovations to make the station better and better. The ticket counter is small and only manned by one person, but since the station is small, there usually isn't much of a wait to get assistance from the clerk. The best thing about this station is that my bf can pull his car right up to the front and wait for me to get off the train, so I don't have to do much walking to meet him. :)

I come here, because I have a cousin that lives in Wettingen. This is a great spot for people with kids that either work in Zurich or in Baden. For Baden is just a couple of minutes away and you can even walk there. For Zurich there are to S trains that go into the city and take about 30min. So if you guys are looking for place to live I recommend Wettingen. I think prices are a bit cheaper then in Zurich, but being so near the city and Baden having some big companies, the rents can also be high.

Both times we were escorted by our local hosts as a courtesy, and I am glad we had them. Things move fast, with quick stop times so you better know you are in the right spot and don't linger. Aside the numerous trains stopping there, there is tram 4 (on the north side) who goes downtown and a few buses 31, 78, 80, 89, 95, N2, N13 (on the south side). They are as well 3 additional bus lines on the north side 304, 307, 308. So in short from Bahnhof Altstetten you can go in all directions quite easily!

It gives you unlimited rides on trains, trams, buses and boats all over Switzerland. It's not time/ date-specific so you won't have to worry about out missing your train and have to get another ticket. It won't matter, you just take the next one. There are 2 classes: 1st class for $820 for 15 days vs 2nd class for $520 for 15 days; 1st class for $460 for 3 days vs 2nd class for $290. They also have passes available for 4, 6 and 8 days. You must buy directly from their website. If you see anything being sold anywhere else, it's probably a scam or a pain in the you know what should you need to change something with your booking and getting your pass. Now, it's not for everyone. If you're planning to stay in just 1 or 2 cantons/ cities in Switzerland, it's not worth it. If you're planning to like Uber, it's also not worth getting a Swiss Travel Pass. Swiss public transportation is very efficient. They're always early or on time. I've only seen one train arrive late. Buses are hit and miss and it's usually caused by passengers taking forever to get on/ off the bus - I've seen it with my own eyes. And there's also traffic. Bernina Express and Glacier Express are also included in the Swiss Travel Pass. All you have to pay for is the seat reservation. Another benefit of getting the Swiss Travel Pass is you get free access (Finance Museum, St. Gallen Library, Red Cross Museum, etc.) to or discounts to some museums and attractions. Their website lists museums and attractions per city. Should you get 1st class or 2nd class? I enjoyed 1st class because it's less crowded and much quieter than 2nd class. The seat configuration is 1-2, 1-1, 2-2 in 1st class vs 2-2 and 4-4 in 2nd class. The seats are wider and you get more legroom in 1st class. There are power outlets, coat hangers, and more luggage space in 1st class. I got a lot of free stuff on the Bernina Express in 1st class and bigger panoramic windows too. So, it's really up to you.

(Probably paying a premium but Switzerland is expensive overall and the station is convenient.) I use the Oerlikon one for shopping (chocolate and snacks) plus there are 2 grocery stores. Eventually found my way, but it was a bit confusing at first. This is quite a large station, but well-connected with many lines, including a direct one to the airport. There is an Asia Store right outside, and I also saw a specialty barbeque sauce shop nearby. Coop and Migros Klubschule are located right across the street, too. So pretty good for lots of stuff.

We were greeted by the voice of "Heidi" and a projected field of cows in the tunnel of the Skymetro. What a great welcome! We went through passport control rather smoothly. There was a line, but it moved quickly. Claiming our luggage through baggage claim went very well. On departure, we originally couldn't find the American Airlines check-in area. Fortunately, there are staff everywhere to assist you. Going through security was quick after scanning our boarding pass to enter. There's an escalator that takes you up through the DF Shop to get to the gates. That shop has automated kiosks to help with those last minute purchases. There are lots of food options and shops once you get past security. You'll get a goodbye message from "Heidi" when taking the Skymetro back to the international (E) gate. It was a very warm & worry-free experience!

The Flughafen is great - lots of bars to grab a beer at 8am - and duty-free shopping!!! They also have showers, yoga classes, and museums inside this airport. Anyways - Tramlinie 12 is the cheapest and one of the quickest ways to the city when you land!!
