The staff was all very professional and there was a guide on hand that spoke English. We had aperitifs and lunch on board during our cruise. We were served a white Port before lunch and then lunch consisted of 3 courses with both a white and red wine made with grapes from the immediate area we were sailing through. The main course of beef was delicious and it was all topped off with a super tasty cheesecake. During our break time in Pinhão we walked out to the Symington visitor center and even got to pick some grapes from the vineyard at the visitor center. Great memories were made on this cruise!

Our Sunday started just before 9am with pickup at our AirBnB, and then off to the valley. On the way to The first Quinta, Bruno planned 2 stops, one overlook with breathtaking views and the next has been a favorite stop for he and his family for decades! The first Quinta was so welcoming and the wine wonderful and complex, not all port but the port was divine. Next was lunch at DOC where The chef happened to be onsite and was so kind to join us for a picture after an exquisite meal expertly paired with wine. Then on to the second Quinta where we got an opportunity to talk with the wine manager who is passionate about wine, but most importantly living life. He could not personally join our tour, only because he was waiting to show the Mondavi family the impressive landscape of his vineyards! The ride home to Porto was lengthy, but Bruno is so easy to talk to and took us the long way home to point out his favorite spots for us to try. We took his recommendations for dinner the next 2 nights and were more than impressed! Thanks Bruno, and to your wife, for such a perfect day. No one knows which attendees are supposed to be with which guides because that was not predetermined. So it's already a mess. And the groups are big--12 people max. That's really too big. The guides are super confused about how to handle everything and what to do. Probably because they are all of 22-years-old. I get told I'm going with one leader, then another, then back to the first. Well, the first leader is leading a group of 11 20-year-old Americans. No one wants to be a part of that. I left in tears and will do whatever I can to get my money back. City Lovers is an awful, disorganized tour company and I will never book with them or Viator again.

My friends (3 of us) and I visited Porto last May and decided to do a cooking class for our last…read moreday. We met up with our tour guide Nuno at Mercado do Bolhao where we purchased a few ingredients. He was very friendly and knowledgable about the market's history. He made us feel welcomed and we also learned so much from him, like the origins of tea and tempura (I always thought this originated in Japan). After the market we took a short train ride to Vila Nova de Gaia where the cooking class was located. We were greeted by our other host Joseph who also welcomed us , was friendly, and knowledgable. We learned how to make three authentic dishes and both our hosts really explained the process well and answered all our questions. The food, wine, and appetizers were delicious. The best part was that our hosts Nuno and Joseph made us feel at home and welcomed. This was such a wonderful and memorable experience. I highly recommend doing this tour because this is a great way to learn about some of the history or Porto and experience the warm hospitality of this beautiful city.

Worth the trip! This…read morePort wine house is not on the busy tourist route. We have had many wine tastings and tours in our day, and wanted to do something different. We asked at the information booth, on the main drag in Gaia, where the cellars are that offer a more personal experience and stated that we were willing to travel a bit off the main path. She gave us a brochure (which is in the shape of a wine bottle) for Pocas Junior that had the address and map to the tasting room and cellar. We decided to take a 5 minute ride with Uber that cost 3 Euros, to experience what we hoped was a more personal tour and tasting. This Port house is located on a quiet street and is identified by a large "P" on the building. Once inside, we were met by a personable and professional guide who gave us what turned out to be a private tour. The tour cost 3.5 Euros followed by a tasting of two Port wines. Our guide explained in detail the process for making Port as she walked us through their impressive working facility. She was highly knowledgeable and happily answered our questions. She explained that this Port house is owned and run by a Portuguese family and also clarified the difference between a Port and a Colheita. We were treated with genuine hospitality, instead of simply being part of a large tour group. If you want to experience something unique and special, go to Pocas.
