I ordered a tasty coffee and a bagel with cream cheese. I went outside to the sidewalk area where there are a bunch of tables and chairs set up, and my boyfriend joined me. He had ordered a small sandwich in a non-descript bag from a place down the street. As soon as I began to eat, the large bald man who had made my coffee and wasn't very friendly initially, came up to our to our table and started giving us a hard time. He said he couldn't eat his sandwich with me. Mind you, there were PLENTY of open tables AND again, it was a tiny sandwich that was practically gone.
I went inside after I'd finished to order another bagel to go, but this time I asked that it not be toasted so the cream cheese wouldn't melt. The same abrasive man waited on me, and this time he was even more rude than the first time. I guess he was punishing me for eating with a non-Bagels & Beans customer. I paid and left, and as I walked down the street I looked in the bag to find a bagel with cream cheese that was completely melted. It was like soup. I went back to show him and ask him to fix it, and he was totally nasty. He asked me what I want him to do, then told me they don't have any of that type of bagel left. I told him I didn't want it toasted, and he said that they warm all their bagels there. It was ridiculous. He was acting like a child. Thankfully, the teenage girl behind the counter next to him had the sense to ask me for the bagel. She cleaned it up and put some fresh clean cheese on it for me. Perfect solution.
It's unfortunate because I just moved into the neighborhood and I see Mr. Clean there all the time. As a matter of principle, I will not be returning. read more
