One of (maybe the only) shop in Krakow that is bagels only--its what they do. Not that you can't get a Classic (cream cheese, red onion, capers, tomato and lox) or an assortment of other bagel sandwiches such as a John McEnroe (turkey), a Woody Allen (tuna), a BLT and more. Or you can walk out with a dozen of the usual (poppy seed, sesame seed, plain, etc.). This is THE place for bagels. read more

Had an onion bagel with hummus, tomato, and sprouts. Was really good but might be due to the fact that I've been in Italy for so long and they don't have any bagels! Loses stars because I had to listen to the owner yell at his employees as I tried to enjoy my bagel. I might have gone back during my stay in Kraków, but I'm not sure I want to support them after that. The bagel was still really good though and I have no regrets. read more

I waited to post in order to sort my feelings. I don't know the reasoning behind the service, but the food was amazing. Our BnB was around the corner and we spotted this location while out walking the night before. We arrived the next morning not long past opening. The inside is cozy with mismatched chairs and tables and movie posters on the walls. The nicest thing that occurred from the staff was advising us the menu had English on one side. He was borderline impolite and very curt. My son had saved euro and inquired about a brownie and not only did he cut him off in the middle of his order, he was quite rude is saying they didn't accept euro. No problem, we had Zloty. The younger guy preparing the food did an excellent job and our bagels are exactly what we hoped for. We had a choice of bagel flavor, which varied between wheat and garlic. My daughter had a nutella and banana, my son kept it simple with plain and bacon. I had a caprese with fresh basil. My husband had a bacon and brie and was the first one finished. The kids killed their hot chocolate and my Indian Chai took the longest but tasted wonderful. I love chai! Overall, I would return; just not a fan of the face of the establishment read more

Bagels in Krakow are good. Real good. And this place keeps up the tradition. Pebe and I came here for breakfast on a Monday morning after walking through Kazimierz. Came here one day whilst visiting the old synagogue, and it's conveniently located right behind it. I had an everything bagel, toasted, with cream cheese. For a bagel spot in the (what used to be) "Jewish" district, this place should be SO much better than it is. The bagels are pretty much a glorified bready mess. Did you hear the one about the Jewish baker who, upon learning that the price of smoked salmon had increased, no longer allowed his staff to have bagels with smoked salmon at lunch - some call it the advent of "anti locks (lox) breaks" ... I had no idea that the Bagel originated in Kazimierz, Krakow more than 400 years ago...who knew...I thought that New York and Montreal were making this claim; can't argue with history I guess. Anyway, we set out specifically for Bagelmama having been told that it was a must and we were not disappointed. Eclectic is the best description for the decor and layout, but very inviting and well worth going out of the way (sort of). I say out of the way as we got lost (twice) and spent more time driving around looking for the place than actually sitting having our lunch, but it was totally worth it. We found an empty table for five at the "storefront", and made our way to the back (in another room) to place our order at a standup counter. The staff were very tolerant of our indecisiveness as we examined the bagel shaped menu, all the while they are standing waiting for your order. The "No Smoking" inside was a very pleasant accent! The decision of the group - Two Sesame Bagels with Cream Cheese and Spicy Sambal, one Garlic Bagel with Cream Cheese and Spicy Sambal, one BLT Bagel and one Classic Bagel (smoked salmon and cream cheese). Two of us were hungry enough to also tackle the Soup of the Day: Fresh Cucumber and Basil (served cold) - and we truly were the lucky two as the soup was fantastic - fresh and flavorful - perfection in a bowl on such a hot day. The truth is that perhaps the others would also have had the soup, but they only had two portions left - and family or not...we ain't sharing soup! I am sure that I heard the gentleman behind the counter state when asked about one of the orders, "it is a toasted bagel served open faced with a dollop of cream cheese and a spicy sambal drizzled on top". A dollop (?), I am not certain what a "dollop" of cream cheese is, but I remember as a child my father stating that he was putting a dollop of Brylcreem in his hair to make it "hold". Uh, what came on the bagel was more like a "mortarboard full" than my recollection of a dollop...not complaining here, rather complimenting. I expect the topping on an open faced sandwich (bagel) to cover the top completely (to the edges)...this was a work of art, the cheese was spread "heavenly" - yes to the very edge and thick. The spicy sambal was both adequately named and extremely tasty. Bagelmama is not out of the way at all and easy to locate if you are not relying on a dyslexic GPS that has difficulty with Left Turn/Right Turn...just sayin... Great food, excellent price, wonderful atmosphere, wonderful staff...an absolute must when in Krakow...now if we could only get one in Belgium! read more

We found this place near the meeting point for a walking tour of the Jewish Quarter so decided to power up with a bagel before starting the tour. I choose a plain bagel with cream cheese which was really very nice for what it was, a good snack/light lunch. I also had a flat white which was very tasty. There's a huge selection of sweet and savoury bagels here and you can get 'bagel tapas' which I think is just a selection of different topped bagels. They also do burritos which I didn't really understand and didn't eat so can't comment. Staff were friendly and prices reasonable, overall it was a great pit stop before a few hours of walking. read more

Order the 3 bagel/6 dip/1 meat platter. It's a great share plate. So worth it. This place is by no means pricey but I will say it is slightly higher than many places we have eaten in Kraków. Again...Still a great deal. A latte, orange juice and bagel sampler was around 30 zloty or about $10 usd. Seriously inexpensive city for good food. As someone who eats bagels almost daily at home, I was heartbroken to find that there were no bagels to be found in or around the town I'm studying in in Italy. In planning our trip to Kraków my friend and I made it our quest to find bagels, and at bagel mama we found just that -- just bagels. Nothing special. 3 stars because the cream cheese tasted homemade and delicious. Only 3 stars because the manager is clearly a very rude American trying to capitalize off of the Jewish tourism in the area -- a very disrespectful man who I heard yell not only at a customer but at his own employee. I love bagels, and after living for 3 years in Europe, I appreciate any bagels (you can't find them in Italy). These were very solid, a bit lighter and softer than your typical NYC type. Did not see other bagel places in Krakow, so if you're really craving one, this is a good spot. read more

Was SO excited to try this place. Bagels are one of my favorite foods. As an east coast native- id compare this to a Dunkin' Donuts quality bagel. Gets the job done but is nothing to write home about. I prefer the texture of NY bagels which are more soft and fluffy. English friendly read more
