It's amazingly rare to get bagels that aren't too puffy and bready, and the flavors here were delicious. Close your eyes and pretend you're in Lebanon/Jerusalem eating fancy food and you'll love it.

Varga Hennecke was next door and the menu looks appealing so we went in. Upon arrival it was empty but the owner was happy to entertain us with some great conversation. Turns out he is a well experienced chef specializing in Italian food. Very small place, only 5 dining tables with some bar seating, so I would recommend a reservation. But the wine was fabulous, Jacob beer, and incredible pasta. I never expected to be so blown away by Italian food in Berlin!

Wow. I have never had such treatment at a public establishment in my life. I have traveled all over…read morethe world and went here with my German friend that lives one block from this restaurant. Of course she speaks in perfect German and she was born and raised here. I usually let her speak, but find, really all people in Germany start talking to me in English just to include me. NOT this man. From the moment we walked in he wouldn't even look at me. I am a bit scared to drink on a fully empty stomach as I don't want to get too drunk. The kitchen was already closed. Fine. We still want to try the wines and hang out. I get a full glass as the wine description was exactly what I wanted. My friend gets a half glass because she wants to taste some different wines. (This is the point of the place.... to try wines.) She is ready for a second glass, I want one too, but without food I am scared about getting drunk and I am still drinking my first glass as I got a full glass and she got 1/2. She asked for some tap water along with her order of more wine, so I can also be ready for more wine. (The wine was lovely!) The owner had a full blown meltdown. Yelling. He was furious with me. He was saying awful things about Americans. (I don't speak German. My friend wouldn't repeat them so I wouldn't get upset.) This is all over asking for a glass of water with an order of more wine! - so I would be able to order more myself once my glass was finished. He was literally yelling! So we went down the street where we were greeted with two glasses of ice water and snacks so we could drink for the next two hours without getting sick. Stay away from this monster!
