It is open in summer only. It is situated towards Gorxheim, surrounded by woods, on a fairly large aerial, with football (soccer) places attached. The Grundelbach, a little brook that flows from Gorxheim through Weinheim, feeds the pools. There are two main pools, one for swimmers, one for non-swimmers, and a little wading pool for tiny tots. Sprawling lawns for sunbathing, volleyball or badminton fields, and a little shop for drinks and snacks complete the scenery. The pools are lined with metal which looks cool even if the water is not (there is a heating system). Unfortunately, the renovations did away with the diving platform and the extra wide slide into the non-swimmers' is not an adequate replacement. Parking right in front is at a premium, but a short walk up into the forest leads to another well-shaded parking lot. As an alternative, the bus stop is right in front.

I used the sauna (it was mixed that day, male & female) and steam room, I'm rarely impressed but the staff as well as the service was fantastic, I also used the massage services from a well trained therapist that was amazing let alone the price 20 Euros for 30 minutes. This facility run by the city of Mannheim is a must for everyone looking for a swim, massage or sauna let alone the historic architecture.

It is reminiscent of some newer penguin or polar bear enclosures in certain zoos. Somehow real zany in a nice kind of way! For the courageous there is 10m diving platform and lawn for sunbathing for the lazy. At the end of the day, chips (without fish!) are sold for half price. It is open from 8am to 7pm.

However, it is definitely nice for swimming a few strokes and just relaxing! The best part, of course, is the sauna and steam room complex, with every temperature and combination of wet and dry sauna that you could imagine and want! A note for people traveling from abroad that this is a European style sauna, so it is coed and nude, but people are very respectful, and it was a very nice environment to relax either by yourself or with friends. A particular highlight was the outdoor sauna space and Terrace, which allows you to take in views of the city from an area of relative privacy. The pricing was very reasonable, and I would gladly come again!

So I read the first review here and thought to myself yeah let's go and check this place out and…read moreswim in the lake. When I reached there I saw the sign that swimming is not allowed and you will get a penalty of at least 125 euro. I was so disappointed and thought ok I will hike around. There were nearly 20 people in water tho. After a long hike under sun I thought who cares let's go in the water for 5 minutes and go home and 2 minutes later police came. I paid the penalty so don't go there if you wanna swim.
