It is the open-air pool of Weinheim, owned by the local sports' club and subsidized by the town. The renovation, completed not even two years ago, was badly needed and came almost too late. It is open in summer only.
It is situated towards Gorxheim, surrounded by woods, on a fairly large aerial, with football (soccer) places attached. The Grundelbach, a little brook that flows from Gorxheim through Weinheim, feeds the pools.
There are two main pools, one for swimmers, one for non-swimmers, and a little wading pool for tiny tots. Sprawling lawns for sunbathing, volleyball or badminton fields, and a little shop for drinks and snacks complete the scenery. The pools are lined with metal which looks cool even if the water is not (there is a heating system). Unfortunately, the renovations did away with the diving platform and the extra wide slide into the non-swimmers' is not an adequate replacement.
