This place is THE COOLEST and now I want every city with a body of water to create a similar venue. (Local friends in Reno, I'm dreaming of a badeschiff in the Truckee River, maybe just outside of the entrance to USA Parkway near the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center so it can attract all the Tesla employees after work. And since it's Storey County, maybe it can be topless like the Badeschiff Berlin!) My husband and I arrived early on a weekday morning, but the Badeschiff was already packed. There were still folding chairs in a stack that could be set up, but all the chairs that were already set up were claimed. That was no problem for us, though, because we only planned to stay for a few minutes. My husband, as a ginger, is a bit of a vampire, and he had no desire to go in the water or to be in the sun. Nevertheless, he was able to find a bench under a shady spot, so he didn't even have to get his shoes sandy as he waited as I enjoyed swimming and taking in the most ridiculous, delightful atmosphere. A beach in downtown Berlin! Swimming in a beautiful pool located in the Spree! We drove here and parked for free along Eichenstraße and walked in. I changed into my suit in the car, so I cannot comment on the changing rooms available there. We paid our entrance fees (11 euros for the two of us) and scoped out the territory. Ladies can sunbathe topless, but tops and bottoms are required in the pool. I'm pretty sure that German swimming etiquette involves taking a brief rinse in the outdoor shower immediately before the pool entrance both before and after enjoying the pool. My non-German speaking and reading husband thought that a sign that actually read "no bicycles" said "no photographing," so he was loathe to take all the photos that I wanted him to take of our/my experience there. (Maybe the topless ladies also in the frame of the camera threw him off? He says that he did not want to seem pervy.) But rest assured, folks who are #doingitfortheinsta that you can, indeed, get that snap that you want. 10/10 I would make my sun, sand, and alcohol-adverse husband come here again because this place is SO COOL. read more

View is amazing. Pool in the middle of the river and pretty sunset views. People do jumps, flips in the pool. We go at sunset time on weekdays and it is not crowded. Pool is heated! There are changing room, lockers, bathroom, nice sun deck with lounge chairs. They rent you standup paddle board also to paddle at the river. Must visit once! We love it there! We swim and watch others doing stand up paddle board. Super cool! We swim laps, take pictures, and sit on the side at Cody lounge chair, enjoy music there and watch the world goes by! Ah....h. This is easily the coolest pool I've ever been in. Located in the East Harbor of the River Spree, it's a swimming pool situated smack dab in the middle of a river. It's probably 6-7 feet in depth, so unlike most hotel swimming pools that top out at 4-feet, it's got some room to unleash your inner mermaid on a warm summer day in Berlin. The price of admission is a bit steep at 20€, but you can stay all day if you'd like. And if you get a good spot on the sand, you can easily do that. There's a bar and some scattered food options available on the property, so if you're hungry or looking for a buzz, they have you covered. Because you can hang out topless, there's a strict no-photo policy, so don't be "that guy" who gets kicked out for being a creep. read more

On my fourth day in Berlin, shall I say night, I had cocktail at the Badeschiff Berlin ! One star for the spot : One the quay, along the Spree, they have managed to put together is beach bar. At night, it is all lit up and you can look over the river to see the lights from other party places on the other side. Deadly ! One star for the idea : It is like a beach with sand. It looks like a beach place. On top of that, as if having a river close was not enough water, they have built a swimming pool in the river. Plenty of lights in this swimming pool, at night it looks really romantic. Some people go take a swim and get back to the shore for a drink. There is always someone in there and someone doing security. No one swimming alone. Very safe, well done ! One star for the ambiance : If you do not feel like having your bum in the sand or in the swimming pool, you can totally relax in one of these long chairs over looking the river. Go with friends, that is so much fun. Go with a lover, it is sooo romantic. Go with you parents, it is a... New experience XD One star for the cocktail : Gin tonic. Perfect ! Badeschiff is one of favorite things in the city. I can't NOT swim as soon as the temperature raises above 50 degrees F (many a chilly swim in the Seattle sound). And Berlin actually gets hot!....sometimes. While there are a plethora of lakes, this is the only way to swim in the river Spree. If you weren't sure, yes - the place is crawling with the hip. And boobies. And even a couple of dongs. I love that Germans aren't embarrassed to get down to business and change a suit. Plus the area around it is a fascinating assortment of clubs/artists work space/ and occasional market. It's got the Kreuzberg vibe down pat. Even when the weather isn't so nice out, the place is great for standing in some sand and having a slightly overpriced priced beer while gazing at Friedrichshain, the Oberbaumbrücke, and Molecule Man. There are several dance spaces within that offer warehouse setting with hip hop remix, electronic, and anything else you can dance to for the regular price of admission. This is the low key club trip I can handle. read more

The Badeschiff needs to be replicated all over the world in major cities (preferably in the river with a view like this location). Yes, this place is a bit young (early 20's to mid 30's) and yes you cannot bring in outside drinks but this place is definitely worth a visit. There is a queue to get in (5E cover) and another queue to get into the pool (anywhere from 15 min to 90 min) but if you plan ahead you can get this most out of this place. There are lockers available (1E) but not too many so you have be early or check often at the bar. Side note, to get into the pool there is a prerequisite pre-rinse? and it is cold so be prepared. On a hot sunny day in Berlin, there is no better place to be than here. read more

Lots of fun tourists and Berliners alike - a fun party atmosphere though we didn't stay until evening when I imagine it gets pretty rowdy. Badeschiff is a really cool concept and a quintessential Berlin summertime experience, something that I guess a lot of people agree on because of how many people were there when I went... Come here if: + You don't mind spending a little money for the entrance fee, drinks and snacks (since you aren't allowed to bring outside items) + You don't mind that someone else is lying 20 cm next to you in any direction + You like waiting in line to get into places + to get into a pool -- after all, it is the place to be seen at! Excuse the sarcasm, but I just don't entirely see the value of coming here; the whole time I just felt suffocated by the crowds. I would say it's worth going once for the social media check-in or whatever, but in my opinion, you could just as well get a more enjoyable and cheaper experience by hanging out in one of Berlin's public parks or outdoor pools. read more

There is an entrance fee: 5 euros.Then you can enjoy the place, stay on the sand or on the roof, it is alright you can relax and get tan. If you are thirsty, no problem, you can order at the bar. The music became monotonous though and they don't allow you to bring drinks in so you're forced to buy their over-priced ones. This outdoor beach bar, river pool venue is a MUST SEE venue in Berlin. Go during a warm sunny day, listen to house music in the background, get your toes in the sand, enjoy their very large deck area with lots of chairs to catch some sun and then jump in their glorious pool that sits right on the River! Love this place to relax with friends and enjoy a Friday after work or anyday for that matter. They also have a stand that serves a variety of chicken wraps if you get hungry - only 5euro for entry and you can rent lockers/towels there. Can't wait until I go back again this summer! read more

This is a must do if you're in Berlin! They do not allow any type of bottles (even empty) inside. There's a cover, must be cash. You can rent a locker off 1€ and a €10 deposit. They sell burgers and fries in a hut which is also cash only. You can pay with card at the bar. Bring your own towel and try to sneak a few photos. I'm not sure if there is anything better in Berlin than swimming in the Spree, except not actually having to and getting some bacterial strand that would make you feel icky. There is a massive beach area, super large deck and the poolalthough I had my doubtsis pretty darn great. It's the perfect temperature, nice views and large enough you aren't rubbing wet bums with anyone. The actual sunning area gets very crowded, very fast. Everyone is smooshed in trying to get their piece of the sun, half naked and dripping with lotion and drinking beer. It's pretty darn nice. read more

This a review of winter Badeschiff. The Badeschiff in summer is a swimming pool in the middle of the Spree with a beach attached. In winter the whole thing gets covered over and they add a couple of saunas and an indoor bar on the river. I have to say, that technically, it is quite an achievement to build the whole complex and have a heated pool and sauna literally on the river. However, I was a bit let down by the pokey saunas. You do get a nice view of the river though as you're sweating out all the toxins. Obviously, you are paying for the location and the atmosphere, and not to have all the luxuries you would associate with a traditional (onland) sauna. read more

Broken down into its constituent elements, Badeschiff is a bit of a mess - on a hot day, the amount of available sand is best measured in millimeters, and the pool (and requisite pre-shower) is ridoculously cold. Yet there is an indescribable charm to floating in the midst of the industrial gray Spree, then popping out for a beer and some "beach," meters away. There have been so many reviews written that I won't repeat the obvious. Cool location, a kind of you-have-to-see-it-to-appreciate-it type place. Worth going at least once. I like the location, the atmosphere is fine, although a bit of a younger crowd. Prices are fine too, be it for entry or the drinks. We didn't try the food. One really annoying thing is the idiot at the entrance. There was some guy checking bags and he was one rude motherf%&/cker. A small, Napolean complex type fool at that. Was annoying for everyone and I couldn't believe when in front of me he asked a woman with a young child to throw away the kid's milk bottle. I highly doubt they were serving breast milk at the bar you dumba$$! Wherever they found this idiot, they need to send him back. Otherwise, all was worthwhile at the Badeschiff.
