I am so absolutely disgusted! I sat down to eat my food, I swallowed a fork full of rice when I saw something move over the filet mignon. I dropped my food when I realized the was a roach crawling on the meat. I kicked the box and the roach began crawling out from the gap. I took this picture To share with people before they go to this truck! I am so grossed out I have no idea whether or not I ate roaches. I brushed my teeth and gargled... I still feel dirty! Yuk!

    Chicken fried rice

This is chicken fried rice or just fried rice? Lol why is the chicken in literal not even cubes but slivers ??? It's mostly rice which would be fine if the chicken was actually normal size. Honestly the worker/owner whoever it is here also need wayyyyyy better customer service I know it's just a food truck but the two times I've been here now the customer service been hella sub par. Their fried rice is good but slightly salty & mad oil! It was $11 so I'm not thattttt upset but def not worth anymore than that.

"Steak" and three tiny pieces of lobster for $50... what a joke
    Chris G.

Does this look like a $50 meal to you? Lol. I waited 35 minutes for this on a Tuesday evening. It wasn't even busy. One person in front of me. I wished the saving grace was that it tasted good but the food was super bland on top of it being an already tiny portion (don't even think about coming here hungry). Three tiny pieces of lobster. None of the chefs or staff seemed like they wanted to be there. I hate this new trend in dtla with all of these overpriced bachi trucks, I've tried all of them and this one is probably the worst...

Salmon & shrimp plate. Substitute chicken fried rice

This was a bit of a disappointment. One because I've tried other hibachi places & also because I had high hopes. Their hours are late night, I got my food around 11-11:15 after a Clipper game Saturday. THEY DO NOT HAVE PHONE IN ORDERS, instead (I believe) they're on grub hub.... it wasn't bad but it was a few things that's made it lose two stars. I've been on record in my reviews of other restaurants that I don't like the tail on the shrimp.. it was 6 shrimps, all tailed. The salmon was tough like chicken. Crispppp boi. Aside from that, it was a pretty decent meal. They ARE flavorful, AND their garlic butter is really good, along with their sauce (idk what kind of sauce it is) and tbh their RICE itself was fire. Fire enough for them to have the business they had. It was about a 40 min wait, I don't think it was worth it. But I'm not stopping anyone from getting it again. 3 and a half stars if I could.... [I ordered 2 sides of fried rice and veggies along with my shrimp & salmon plate w/ chicken fried rice, my total was $57 flat]

There food is so amazing! The staff keep you informed throughout the whole waiting process. The food is cooked fresh and hot

Unfortunately, this visit didn't live up to what we remembered. Being given plastic utensils while dining in was surprising, especially at this price point. The service and food were just okay, and the "miso soup" was actually plain chicken broth, which was disappointing and unexpected. Overall, it didn't feel like the same experience we used to enjoy. I hope this is taken as constructive criticism, as we'd love to see the quality return to what it once was.

We waited almost 40 minutes to be seated, which wasn't a problem because we had a birthday girl who chose this dinner, no biggie. However, once we were seated at 8-ish our cook didn't get to our table until an hour later. Sure they brought us drinks, salad and miso soup (which was lackluster) so we had to add a bit of soy sauce. Which also wasn't a big deal. However, we all were so tired by the time the food arrived, we ate and didn't even realize our chef didn't even give us a performance. Although the food was good, I literally and genuinely feel like I robbed and held hostage and paid them for $400 for it! I just know for future reference whenever someone suggests Teppanyaki it's a HELL NO for me! Uncle loves you though

I understand that people are still willing it pay for the food (because it's good) but $20 for a meal after everything gets tiring after a point, especially for loyal customers. I turned to Yelp for help and that - as always - was the right move! Izakaya Gazen is a chain, originating out of Tokyo with locations also in Honolulu and Little Tokyo, L.A. It's got the true feel of an izakaya (Japanese pub or if you read the Japanese characters, Stay-Drink-Place). The name Gazen refers to the chain and the "Gazen style food - approachable and shareable. Izakaya Gazen is known for its house made creamy tofu, often eaten with soy sauce and wasabi - and it was very delicious. Unlike the izakayas I visited in Japan, I didn't have to remove my shoes here - kind of nice, but I miss the true Japanese tradition. One tradition I appreciated was the large format Japanese beers (we chose Asahi) and the small, chilled glasses to pour into. I haven't found this Japanese touch on the glasses anywhere else in the USA. Usually, I have to ask for an old-fashioned glass or a juice glass and the servers just don't understand that this is how you drink from a large bottle in Japan. As with all Japanese dining establishments in Japan, you're warmly greeted the moment you enter, by the sushi chefs and the servers alike with "Konnichiwa!". It's a cultural thing in Japan and one I wish was more prevalent in the USA. Our server was delightful and seated us at a window table. We examined the excellent menu and went with two offerings - the Chirashi Sashimi Bowl and the Tempura Bowl - both served with a small sample of their creamy tofu, a tray of appetizers, miso soup, and a salad. A really good value ($32 and $25, respectively). I rated both of them five-star for presentation, taste, and the very fresh nature of the food. It was an outstanding hirugohan (lunch)! There are lots of great places to eat in DTLA, but we're seriously considering another visit to Izakaya Gazen this evening!
