They have a fantastic range of just about everything you might need! and the staff are on hand to help you with whatever you need eg car seats are tricky and need to be fitted carefully and the staff are always happy to help you get the right one. There's toys for newborns right the way up to older toddlers, although, I find that they are slightly costly. There is a lovely selection of clothes - including school clothes, again, can be slightly costly but they regularly have sales that see some good reductions. All in all, if you're a parent, it's definitely worth a look

There's also a great range of baby clothes, again these are quite pricey - for everyday babywear perhaps a bit too pricey, but the baby clothes would make lovely gifts for new parents. There is a wide range of buggies, pushchairs and prams and theres always a member of staff on hand to show you how they work (people not familiar with modern prams, sometimes you need a degree to operate all the different functions) You can also get everything you need for babies nursery, theres a selection of furniture including cots, wardrobes, draws changing units and moses baskets. We purchased the wave and then a week later I had baby brain panic and changed my mind on the colour I rang up and they changed it no problem after I had been worrying like mad. I can't really summarise it adequately so I'll just have to go into detail. I came here with some ladies from my work to spend the collection of £150 we'd put together for a colleague we all loved who was going on maternity leave. I was all nonchalant and blasé and 'yeah, babies, whatever, let's just get some bibs and that'. Until I walked through the door. It's like some kind of different world. I wanted to cry within five minutes. My voice was hoarse from all the 'ooohs' and 'aaaahs' and I couldn't stop pointing at all the teeny tiny booties and t shirts and one-sies. A plethora of clothing, accessories, cots, blankets, gadgets, toys and other baby stuff, this place is quite something. There's an upstairs that I don't think I could quite have coped with emotionally (plus we overspent by £30 because we got carried away), but there's prolly lots up there too. If you're expecting, or know someone who is, and feel that you're strong enough, you have to come here

Being completely…read moreclueless in the baby/child/kidlet department I never have any clue on what to get for new babies and the onset of their entry into this fine world we have. I am also without clues when it comes to birthday gifts, christenings, Christmas, Easter, or general kidlet visitations, the staff at Mamas and Papas are amazing. From attempting to sort myself out with a gift and then getting really rather desperate through second guessing myself, and swearing to myself and my friends that I'd definitely seen something here...I think, a lovely lady came over to me, ensuring that she didn't mean to pry but was there anything she could help me with. I told her I was crap at this sort of thing, and she took the key statistics; sex, age, occasion, time required to sort a gift, public transport or in the car, that sort of thing, and then suggested a few things to me, and walked me around the rather large store to point out what was within range and appropriate for my friend's new bundle of joy. She explained the important stuff, especially where the baby clothes and blankets and bedding stuff was concerned, all good for even the most sensitive of babies. I recalled I'd seen something I'd like for the kid and I couldn't see it, so she enlisted the help of another shop bod and they got to work on looking for the item in question, and then trawled through the store catalogue, and then hit the internet version, spotted it, said that I could have it personalized and delivered to the store, that way I could check it before I had no way of bringing it back. There was no being pushy or rude, just genuinely trying to help me and my issue and my lack of competance at dealing with newborns. Navigating the store there was pretty much everything you could think of in the way of babies and expectant mothers. With "rooms" set up in character themes, displaying cots, blankets, bedding, baby clothes and baby gear of all varieties, to give the idea of what it all would look like in your own home. Got another kidlet on the way soon, and for this little treasure I will be back to Mamas and Papas to get some staff help and a baby gift.

It is quite a large shop for the market and is well-stocked. The clothing here is mainly for young babies, with a range of very adorable and tiny baby-grows. They also manage to stock a good range of cots suited to different budgets. The Moses baskets are very sweet - traditional wicker with white cotton flounces. One of the dolly prams is absolutely adorable - red with white detailing in a classic vintage style - shame it's not a real pram (though I imagine it might not be entirely practical to lug onto a bus)! If you are expecting or you know someone who is, Child-Care could be a good place to look for a handy gift for a new baby.
