I think orange theory has the best workouts available but I am no longer a member…read more I would love to go back for the high intensity because as a member I was never in better shape. I was fit and was able to control my weight. I particularly liked the Tabatha workouts. It is great for the heart and I hear it is boosts my metabolism. Their first class is at 5:00 which makes it appealing. I am an early riser and like to start my day with a workout.

I'm not sure why there seem to be reviews from people who aren't in the Wellesley area (visitors, I…read moreguess?). A couple of the negative reviewers also seem to fall into the "anything less than five stars is one star" approach to Yelp reviewing, but the negative ones don't begin to describe the studio where I've been going for the past year. (And if you're going to attack an employee about their hairstyle, maybe you should grow up a bit before you write another review.) In my experience, the staff has been universally friendly, helpful, and attentive. The coaches have different styles ranging from fairly laid-back to hyperkinetic, so if you have a strong preference for an approach in how you're coached you'll have to find your favorites. All the coaches I've worked with, however, are clearly trying to become better at their jobs and frequently ask for feedback on how they're doing. (If I have an overall suggestion, it would be that all the coaches offer more frequent advice on proper form for the weight exercises. Some do this regularly; others almost not at all.) I enjoy the variety in the classes--every day is something a little different--plus they always provide exercise alternatives for anyone dealing with injuries. My goal is overall fitness--not bulking up or massive cardio gains--and OT definitely delivers. The studio is clean if small (the changing area can get crowded between classes). The equipment always seems to be well-maintained, especially when you consider how much it gets used on a daily basis. I'd probably give OT four stars overall because of some issues in variability in how the franchises get run. (Checking the Reddit forums, it's pretty clear that the franchisees have a fair amount of leeway in day-to-day operations.) It's not a problem overall for me--and certainly not the fault of the staff--but it may explain why some people give Wellesley lower ratings since how things are run here may differ from other studios.

It's not my home studio but I appreciate the ability to take a strength class when my studio doesn't have one on the schedule. It's a bit of a drive for me, so I've only been maybe 10 or 12 times over the past year or so. The studio is on the smaller side and I have a friend who doesn't like it because she feels it's "dirty." I normally don't agree (though it is dark and on the smaller side, there are no mirrors in front of the weight stations because they are at windows, and the floor mats are pretty worn and old), but last weekend I did find a bunch of food gunk near my floor station. It looked like apple pie filling or something. I wiped it up but ... was kinda yucky. In general, I find the coaches to be fine and the front desk to be very nice. They were super helpful when I left a hat behind and came back a few days later to get it. Also the shower and restroom facilities are clean and spacious. Don't love that the water fountain station is in the lobby, but they can't really change the studio design. I don't find coaches to be super motivating or focused on sharing technical feedback, but I've also only taken strength or tread 50 classes, which I've heard coaches say are challenging to lead because there isn't as much to say. They also seem to run a lot of studio-specific promos/contests, like offering incentives for pre-booking classes and having raffles, which I think is a great way to keep up studio engagement and utilization. Street parking (free) has always been easy for me -- a big plus.

Every workout is different and I like that you are given both modifications and ways to challenge yourself. All the staff are friendly and approachable and the studio is pretty clean!
