We had grilled sea bass fillets here. The fish was very fresh, and the vegetables consisting of potatoes, zucchini, eggplant, peppers and tomato were delicious. The presentation was impressive. The staff was mostly nice and courteous and the inside was air conditioned and clean. At 12:30 there was only one other family dining in, but gradually, as we were finishing our meal, the room filled up. What they could improve: Place a little plate on the table for bread and olive oil while waiting for food to arrive, and ask if everything is alright during the meal. Also, the food is pricey! Food (5/5): Ordered the fried squid rings (calamari), crab meat pasta, squid ink pasta, the cioccortino, and the iced coffee. All of the dishes were absolutely delicious. My favorite was the crab meat pasta which had an amazing presentation with a crab shell. The crab meat and pasta had great taste and texture. The iced coffee was nicely presented in a martini glass and the squid ink pasta was also quite good. The calamari was good but it would've been nice to have the tomato red sauce. The cioccortino dessert was fire with great creaminess and right amount of sweetness. Service (5/5): They quickly seated us and took our order efficiently. The food came out fast. All of the servers were super friendly with a nice smile on their face, they gave us a drink on the house, and they were very respectful. Looking for fresh seafood and happen to be on Murano Island? Come by and check out B-Restaurant. Service was efficient, helpful, and let us know ahead of time that the seafood risotto dish would take a bit longer than the pasta dishes. At one point, my friend dropped her fork, and almost instantly, one of the servers picked it up, grabbed a new fork from his apron, and placed it on the table. Didn't even have time to ask for a new one since it all happened so fast. Food was amazing! They have actual scampi in their scampi pasta dish. Apparently, scampi is supposed to be made with scampi and not shrimp?!? Who knew?!? I always assumed scampi was the style of cooking, not an entirely different crustacean altogether. The reason why we use shrimp is because scampi don't live in the waters around the U.S. Needless to say, the scampi linguine and the seafood risotto were delicious and definitely the highlights of the meal. Stopped by here for lunch when my party and I were in Murano earlier this year. It was pretty quiet inside and we felt like the only tourists in the restaurant, though that certainly didn't affect our service as it was pretty attentive. I got their fusilli al pesto, which was cooked perfectly al dente to my liking and tasted pretty good, but was somehow a little forgettable at the same time. My party liked their choices as well. We stopped in for lunch around 2:30p on a Saturday afternoon & wanted to eat on the patio. All the tables outside were full but there were some open inside. But we waited about 5 mins for one outside to open up. We had the bolognese, the pomodoro, and the chefs special which was a spiral pasta with seafood & a cream sauce & surprisingly blueberries?! Very cool atmosphere, delicious food, wonderfully welcoming staff, clean facilities and both indoor and outdoor seating. Tucked away from the main canal strip, you could easily past this hidden gem which is a shame as it is very worthy of a visit. Had the seafood pasta and the crab salad: both were simply divine. The clams were less gritty than any other place I've been to making the dining experience that much better as you didn't have to worry about biting down on some leftover sand. My family and I had our first meal in Italy here in B-Restaurant. We came here around 1pm (1300 for yall Europeans) on a Thursday afternoon after walking around Murano and looking for some decent vegetarian food. Maybe it's because this was our first authentic Italian meal of the vacation, or maybe it's because B-Restaurant was just that good -- it's getting 5 stars. The restaurant is bigger than expected and there are several waiters and staff to cater to your needs. The food arrived quickly, and it was delicious. I ordered the salmon pasta with white sauce. The salmon is shredded throughout the pasta, so each bite consists of pasta, salmon, and the sauce. The sauce is amazingly cheesy and light, and the pasta is well done. My dad had a spaghetti dish, my sister got the pesto pasta, and my mom had the regular pasta with garlic and chili with a side platter of veggies. The portions look small, but they're actually large and filling. I could barely finish my pasta, but I still had room to taste the other dishes and eat my fair share of veggies. I highly recommend the salmon pasta or the pesto pasta. read more

We took a small detour over to Murano after spending some time visiting Venice and we are very glad we did! It's a quaint little island that can easily be enjoyed in a couple of hours. We stumped across B-Restaurant after reading some reviews online. If you're not looking for it, you probably won't find it. It's further down one of the small streets of Murano, next to a beautiful glass art piece. Since it was a cold day, we decided to sit inside. The decor inside is not your typical Italian decor. It's very modern and sleek. Very different than the other trattorias we had visited that week. The menu is a bit pricey, so just be aware of that before coming. After living in Italy for half a year, i've started to tell when pasta is more expensive than usual but I'm glad we stuck it out and ordered. First, we got the caprese salad. It is very big and very shareable. It's different in that it's mozarella balls as opposed to slices with cherry tomatoes. It was missing some flavor so we added salt and balsamic vinegar so that we could enjoy it more. For second, we ordered the crab pasta and the spaghetti with frutti di mare. The crab pasta was delicious and even came in a crab shell. It is also a large portion so you really can share this with someone. The frutti di mare was also incredible and probably one of the highlights of our trip. For dessert, we tried the tiramisu and were not disappointed! It is a yellow color which is off-putting at first but somehow it was more delicious that we expected. The drink prices are also a bit high so we didn't order anything but water. A complimentary limencello at the end of our meal was night though! This restaurant also had a couple of vegan and vegetarian choices on their menu, so if you're looking for these meals, this could be the place to go! read more

***The hidden gem of Murano, Italy*** We were debating throughout our whole trip whether we should make some time to take a trip out to Murano from Venice, well we bit the bullet and did. Just like most hidden gems in Italia this place is hidden in an alley, so please ask around and pay attention to the numbers when you're wondering about. As soon as you walk in, you know this is a fine dining establishment. The decor is elegant and seating is trendy! We got here as soon as it opened for lunch so the kitchen took a bit of time to warm up before our food came out. We were treated to some free bread/water while we waited, but it was well worth the wait, here's what we ordered: King Prawns - the quality of the seafood was superb and flavor was flavor flav good!?! Clams Entree - fresh, delicious, and fresh is all I ask for when it comes to my clams. Crab Pasta - perfect amount of sauce and fresh to death crab meat. So if you are in Venice, try taking the water taxi over to the small island of Murano. There are a lot of things to do on this island from it's gorgeous views to the all of its glass art exhibits. Damn. Was so excited for our first meal in Venice! The fresh grilled bass, good stuff. The veggies that came with, mediocre. The soft shell crab pasta, incredible. With that said... I am thoroughly unimpressed with our experience here. The server took our order and we were ready to go. Next stop, the Sommelier poured wine like a 5-year old. All over the glass, table and my white pants. No sorry. No table wipe down. No new placemat. All this man did was bring me to the bathroom because he had "spray". This did nothing so we resumed our meal. The server then said he'd take "care of us" or however he put it. When the check came, I expected some sort of compensation or at least an "I'm sorry" or a bottle of wine or SOMETHING. The check was 81 Euros with the 81 crossed out and the new bill was 80 Euros. Not quite sure if they care about their clientele or if they were just scoffing at the fact we dressed different, looked younger and were American. Expensive white pants ruined for a one Euro discount??????? My lady asked if they were serious and they ended up dropping the bill to 75 Euros... So now their ignorant mistake makes my pants worth 6 Euros? In the end, I had to complain further. This was incredibly insulting.... I hate writing bad reviews, I think I've wrote two ever? The chef came out as this escalated and dropped the bill to 50. We paid and left. If any of those men had paid decent money for food only to have their expensive clothes ruined with no apology or compensation they may understand. Maybe this was a once off thing, but definitely a well deserved 1 STAR. Sorry guys, do better. read more

This place is on a side street in Murano; it's quite modern, and their staff is quite diverse and extremely efficient. We received excellent service when we went there, from the moment we arrived until the end of our meal. Even better than the service is the quality of the food - it's simply Heavenly! The menu is replete with traditional Italian and Venetian staples, and many of the dishes are prepared with original twists. One of my favorite dishes here is the antipasto Veneto. It comes with a hefty 25 euro price tag, but it's good enough and substantial enough to make a whole meal out of - it's even better to share it with a friend. The last time I ordered it, the octopus in it was beautifully cooked and completely delicious. Another excellent dish to try here is their baccalà mantecato. It's basically soaked salt cod that's mashed with extra virgin olive oil until smooth. Their version tastes wonderful; it's light, wonderfully fluffy, and beautifully presented. Bottom line: After three visits, I've never had a bad meal here, and have no hesitation recommending this place to anyone. They even have some excellent vegetarian dishes. Tip: DO visit Murano. Most tourists in Venice end up skipping it, which means if you go you'll find smaller crowds and hopefully a more beautiful and enjoyable experience. If you're not familiar with Murano, it's just about a mile north of Venice proper, has a population of around five thousand people, and is most famous for glass making - Enjoy! read more

This is the best seafood we've had in Venice, and has changed my mind entirely about octopus. Our mains were not stellar, but still good, and you get a lot of food for your money. The atmosphere is a little dated, but fun in a "I remember the '90s" sort of way. But the real standout is the service: unlike most of my Venice experiences, our servers were relatively friendly and attentive. I really enjoyed my pasta from B Restaurant, on my last day on Murano. It's a bit hard to manage to go, as it's only open for lunch during the week - but that's the case for most everywhere on Murano, to be fair. I did find the prices to be quite high, but as I just had some pasta it was okay. I went for the pasta with olive oil, garlic and chili and it was really delicious. Simple but flavourful, and the portion was huge. My husband had some penne with pesto, which was also really nice, but a bit heavy. I would say it'd be ideal to share a plate of pasta along with some salad or the like, as it's really a carb overload. I wasn't impressed with the price of a Coke - €4.50 - so just had tap water. A basket of un-asked-for bread was left untouched but of course you're paying for it, as Venice and the surrounds like to tack on a cover charge. Here it was a rather high €3. Service was friendly, food was prompt, and the plates and glassware beautiful. I would go back for a special occasion, perhaps, on one of the evenings they're open for dinner. Also known as "B Restaurant", this is by far the best restaurant in Murano and one of the best in Venice in general. The chef reinvents Venetian cuisine and gives it a slightly more modern twist, but always respectfully of the tradition. Some of the best dishes I ate there include: tune tartare with diced tomatoes and capers, baked scallops, octopus and celery salad, spider crab tagliolini (served in the crab's shell!) and a delicious turbot flavored with pancetta. The menus are helpful for tourists like myself, because half is in Italian and half in English. There were large portions, although very delicious.
