We had a room with two balconies, one overlooking popular church square and the other with the view over the see. If you're not lucky to stay in a room with a view, there's a terrace on the top with deck chairs and tables, so you can enjoy la dolce vita. The room was big and very comfortable. It had everything you need, including a small fridge. The manager was very friendly and helpful with local tips. The only slightly annoying bit was that the cleaners, who come every day, were sometimes moving too many things around and switching off the aircon, but I still 100% recommend it.

This review is super late (from August 2012) - but better late than never! I just remembered as I…read morestumbled across old photos. Wonderful gem! This hidden villa on the countryside of Randazzo was a true and authentic experience. No frills, no tourist traps hotel. The grounds are gorgeous and the rooms clean and updated. The owner let us tour the cantina where the family used to make wine. We were also allowed to sample fresh wine and produce growing from the land. The on-site restaurant was also great. They were just finishing the pool back then, I'm sure it's a beautiful escape from the heat by now. I highly recommend this place and stopping in Randazzo (near mount Etna).

Taormina provides options for tourists: lodging within the city and outside it. This is an example…read moreof the latter. Its disadvantage is that bus transportation to and from the city will cost a couple about $12 a day because Taormina shuts down from 1-4 in the afternoon. So, one might as well join the locals and take a riposo or go to the beach, and return to Taormino in the evening.. It is not possible to walk the distance, Having said that, Agon has many advantages over hotels in the heart of the city. There are five well-appointed, spacious, very clean rooms with en suite bathrooms. A main breakfast area and lounge adjoins them and provides a spectacular view of the Ionian Sea. A small beach is across the street as is the bus and the railroad station, making arrivals and departures very convenient. Perhaps most intriguing is that Davide, who owns the B & B with his wife, is a certified (important) Mt. Etna guide and knows Sicily and the immediate area very well. He can arrange all kinds of tours and has many contacts in the region. In general, Agon, is a good choice in season and off season.
