My wife and I, after being empty nesters for a bit, decided we needed a dog in our lives again. We decided on wanting a basset hound because of our lifestyle....a basset was best suited for it. 1st time going through a breeder instead of an adoption agency..and were apprehensive after hearing horror stories about puppy mills and treatment. When we arrived and after a bit...you could tell B&S Kennels was definitely not one of those places. After talking with the owner, she went off to get some puppies for us to see if we bonded with any. While she was gone I snuck out to look at the kennels...and was impressed. The kennels were spacious and clean/well maintained with the comfort of the dogs in mind. The dogs were definitely not cramped, bigger than most shelter kennels, definitely bigger then the ones we had in the military for the police dogs.
She came back shortly with like 6 female pups, and one gravitated towards us while the others just kind of played and sniffed around, no fear/mistrust of humans..so we decided that one chose us. The owner walked us through the paper work..explained what we needed to do to register her chip, and what has and has not been done yet with shots (she was current with the necessary documentation, which our vet was pleased about everything being in order), had us sign stuff...and we were on our way with Daisy Mae who has been an excellent addition to our family. 1st thing we did was take Daisy to our vet who gave her a clean bill of health...no issues. Now, going on 8 months old...Daisy Mae lives a pampered life of car rides in the classic convertible and/or the suv, trips to the puppy park off leash area, laying on "mommy's lap" while watching tv, trying to play with the cats, or playing with the neighbor's dogs, and has become the unofficial mascot at work (I always have to bring her in so everyone can say hi if I take a day off). If I have Daisy with me when I stop for coffee at the local coffee shop, the kids that work there always have to come out to say hello. She's the belle of the ball where ever she goes.
If we decide Daisy needs a little brother or sister....B & S will definitely be the go to place. Thanks B & S Kennels....you guys were great.
edited to add, we're NOT in salt lake city UT....and not sure why that's there as our location...but located near Kansas City on the Kansas side. read more
