The first thing…read moremost of you will assume is that it will be more expensive than the nearby Homebase but that is simply not the case. The prices in Baydis are actually very reasonable and I have often found products to be cheaper in Baydis than in Homebase (paint rollers, satin paint, sandpaper etc). They are quite a small shop but stock a large selection of the little bits and bobs you need when completing any form of DIY. This is complimented by the fact that the shop assistants are very knowledgeable and will assist you when trying to find the right item. If you need a specialist paint or anything that is hard to find in Homebase or B&Q then the likelihood is Baydis will stock it. I am glad this shop is continuing to do well considering there is a Homebase just up the road. It has the feel of a proper DIY shop and has earned itself many regular customers. I strongly recommend you check your local traders before going to nationals.

The sheer range of items is slightly mind boggling at first but the friendly and chatty staff are more than happy to help you find the item, give advice and give you great ideas. The outside of the shop is a carnival of household items which include, bins, brushes, flower pot men, hedgehog shoe cleaners, plants, heaters, forks, green houses, tools the list goes on The inside is stacked high with products and you are sure to leave with more that you came in for Underwoods has been there for many, many years and I hope it stays there for many years still as it a welcome change to Homebase and B&Q. If a DIY shop for you has always been the huge warehouses then you will find this a breath of fresh air.

They have some great offers outside or in the window sometimes on things like brooms, cleaning clothes or bulbs, and there is something nice about getting DIY things wrapped in brown paper bags nostalgia, but still keeping up to date with the modern DIY requirements
