All mechanic wanted to do is fix issue as quickly as possible and leave. He didn't take the time for boiler to reach temperature or cycle unit off/on to determine if everything was working properly (which it wasn't). Later in the night I realized boiler wasn't running and called back company. After much begging he came out at 11pm and left at 12:30. Quickly found another issue which could have been detected on first call. He was the owner and a good mechanic but tried to charge me $338 for second call which should of been only parts due to the callback. After much arguing he the agreed to lower his price to $200 dollars . Repairs for the day totaled $700. Bottom line first mechanic wasn't good and all they care about is making money and aren't very thorough. They give you prompt service but it comes with a large cost and aggravation. I told a friend of mine what happened and he mentioned that he had the same part replaced for $100 less and the mechanic asked hi to turn up/down thermostat to cycle boiler.

They do not accept credit cards or online payments and the technician was told by the owner to collect payment the minute the work was done. The cost was almost $4000 and fortunately I had enough in my account to pay this. I was not told in advance that I would be expected to pay this on the spot. If you need any significant work done, be aware that there is no option other than paying them immediately by cash or check.

His knowledge of the wiring codes had him replace the breakers for the tub under recent code changes. The recent work was a quick and dirty job and I was wondering if he would even be interested in taking something like that on. Fortunately he was available and came the next morning. It turned out to be a really simple fix but it did depend on knowledge of his craft. (Multiple bathrooms can be wired together with one gfci.) As always, he is my goto guy for electricity. I find him talkative, and he went on about a big job he is doing and how he feels badly there are so many small jobs in Maynard he wants to get to but can't. I asked him if he was taking this job because although it was "small" we suspected it could be a dangerous situation. Yes, he would be there "early afternoon" on a day the following week. Well, he never showed up. No phone call. I gave him the entire afternoon. When I called him late that afternoon (4:30), he wasn't even sure what I was talking about. Then he said he did recall, but he was working on a big job, and he gave me the same information about how he has these big jobs going on and feels badly there are so many local people who he can't get to. Ok, I thought I'll play along with this and I asked hiim politely when he expected he could get out. He said maybe on his way home. I said, what time would that be, he said 5 pm, but it was already 4:30 pm. Oh, that's right, he said that wouldn't work. He said I should call him next week and he would see what he could do and that he would never remember to call me since he doesn't write anything down. Needless to say I don't care how inexpensive your prices are or how good your work is, or what your trade is - doctor, electricain, hairdresser, tinker, tailor, sailorman - treating a customer like their time is less valuable than yours AND not having common courtesy to take 3 minutes to call and cancel or explain you are too busy means you are not running a good business. My sense is....this electricain will be happy to get paid to do work for you if he isn't busy with a bigger job but, converesley, will not tell you he's too busy to take on your job because he wants to keep your business for the times work is slow. That being said as it turns out the wonderful electrician we hired by way of recommendatioin from 3 local (Mayard/Acton/Sudbury) businesses ened up having to spend a full day to fix what turned out to be a large issue. Ironically, if J. Rocheleau had simply called me that morning to say he wouldn't be able to get to us that day - or even if he had called at any point that day to say he was too busy - I wouldn't have written a negative review.

Update: The owner…read moredid respond to my emails and calls. Apparently, it was a system error. I'm glad the issue was resolved. I did have to call and email multiple times to have the issue resolved, but it was resolved. Hopefully others have a more positive experience with this company than we did: They came to our home in May 2024 for AC "tune up" for the season. I was told that the system was in great order by the tech and supervisor with him. They charged me for the service: $169. That very same day the motor on our condenser failed. The part was under warranty, luckily; although they tried to charge me for the part, until I reminded the billing department I looked up the warranty myself. They did charge for the labor (169 again)-- despite the motor failure occurring the day they tuned up the system. November of 2024, we realized the Honeywell control board for our heating system had failed. Our system was about five years old at that point. Schulz techs replaced that part and charged us 455 for the service, which we paid shortly after receiving the bill. We paid using their online payment system on 11/17/2024 and payment processed 11/18/24. Eight months after they replaced the control board and we paid for the service, they sent another invoice for that same part from 11/2024 for 296 dollars. The original bill was for parts and labor. We found a far better company to use. We will not use Schulz again. Luckily my husband has his credit card statement and invoice to show we paid previously. Maybe just an error, but it isn't the first issue with this company.

Very pleasant guy and hands on helping the other 2 guys he sent. They were excellent. It is the 2nd time I called him for things to do and its a nice feeling that you have a guy you can rely on. They installed a couple of lights, an over the range microwave. A electric baseboard heater and a thermostat. Next project is to get setup for a generator, when power goes out. He was clearly experienced and answered our questions. He provided a quote for the repairs and said the quote would be valid for 30 days.
