The employee that waited on me was very rude and a little smart talking. I asked about a charge and was told can't give everything away. I've never seen a place that sells burgers and hotdogs that you have to pay for slaw and chili. That's part of those two sandwiches. I think you're just plain overcharging . We were looking for a quick place to stop for lunch and remembered reading about the fried chicken at the B&B Royal in Our State magazine. It's right off of 40, and it is in a gas station. Don't let its location stop you from having a meal here. We both had the chicken breast plate. In addition to the delicious, crunchy, craggy chicken, you get a roll, a delicious, well seasoned cole slaw and a handful of "taters". The taters are basically potato wedges, but they're really, really good. Good seasoning, crunchy on the outside, but soft inside. They're worth getting on their own. But, the chicken is also awesome, so it works out that they both come with the meal. The kid had a corn dog and a scoop of Mac and cheese. They were both pretty good. She was happy. Price was great. 2 adults and a kid, and we spent less than we would have at McDonalds. Service was friendly and quick. The decor is minimal, it is a gas station after all. There were a few booths tucked off to the side, and it was clean and neat. They have a pretty decent sized menu, sandwiches, biscuits, hot dogs, daily specials. I can't speak to any of them, but if the fried chicken represents the way they cook, I'm sure it's all good. Overall, it's a worthy place to stop, get a great meal and have a cool, authentic North Carolina experience. This is not the hipster chicken of Asheville, this is old school home cooking. read more

Everytime i call yo place a order for dinner they are always sold out of everything and never have nothing and the kitchen quits cooking at 6:30. So I guess to eat here anymore you have to make sure you eat only breakfast and lunch. I am just getting aggravated that business is this bad and they can't have food later than that. I was taken here by my husband who grew up grabbing lunch at B and B and I agree... It is the best Carolina style hotdogs around and in the most unlikely of places!! It's the slaw that makes them with the perfect amount of sweet. The slaw is actually an Abee secret family recipe that is used (I hear). You can tell this place has been around for a while and serves only good ole country cooking.
