DO NOT take your skills test here. I took my first two tests at 911 Driving School on the north side, which was stressful because of the instructors and roads, so I decided to try B&B because I heard the guy was nice, the roads are easier, and the person who taught me to drive said it's a good place. The roads being easier is true, but the instructor being nicer is flat-out wrong. I took my first test here on April 2nd 2026 and i failed since i went 7 over which is a rule to an automatic fail I get that and he was nice about it the first day but I went back the next day on April 3 2026 because I knew all my skills I just went a little fast so I fail again and he was nice about explaining what I did wrong then before we both got out of the car he said "you're just wasting money" which is a messed up thing to say! You don't know what somebody is going through, and my mom is a single mom, and she doesn't care about spending money to get my license, but we don't have a lot of extra money since she's raising two boys by herself. So I kept my calm until I got back in the car, then I cried to my driving teacher. So DO NOT take it here, he is not nice and considerate. Also, on the second day, I failed, and I almost hit a car. I looked left, straight, right, left, straight at a stop sign so there were no cars so I went then a car came up a hill going 35-40 way over the 25 speed limit and almost hit him so i automatically failed which I get but going out of the school I was at a red stop light waiting to go right so I waited till i thought it was safe but he rushed me saying "you can turn now" well excuse me for trying to make sure we don't get hit! And I'm pretty sure he's the only guy you can test with, so I'm currently looking for other schools in the valley to test with! read more

DO NOT take your skills test here. I got the same instructor both times and was failed both times. The first fail made sense because my front wheel had went up the curb. As for the second? The same instructor, an old man who never introduced himself to me, made offhanded and rude comments about my driving the entire time. At one point I was waiting at a stop sign for traffic to be clear before I turned, looking both ways multiple times. Not even 15 seconds of waiting before he says "We can wait here all day if you want." I respond with "Excuse me?" as he says "You're waiting too long. If someone was behind you they would've been honking by now." I pause, then respond "I'm just waiting for traffic to be safe. I don't want to cut anyone off." He sighs, rolls his eyes and proceeds to mark me down. Other instances include unsafe actions. He tried having me back around the curb--a curb that lead right into a busy street. I was lucky that no passing traffic hit my car on that maneuver. As for parallel parking, he tried having me do that in a one lane street--which was right up by a stoplight. The entire thing felt off to me and I felt unsafe, especially since a truck was coming up behind me. I had used my right turn signal as I lined up with the parked car next to me. I tried waiting for the truck behind me to drive around me (what you're supposed to do), and that's when the instructor chimed in yet again with "what are you *doing?*" I explain to him why I'm waiting, and he says "No. No, don't worry about him. You have the right to park." The truck had to have thought that I was simply turning right at the light, thanks to the way I was set up for this maneuver. As I began to back up, the truck driver gives me an angry look and starts backing up to properly give me room. By then I was breaking down from that moment as well as the instructor's previous comments. I knew I was in no condition to drive like that. I'm crying right in front of the instructor and stop the maneuver to instead drive back to the school to end the test. He seems flabbergasted over the fact, and once again, exclaims "what are you doing?" So I respond, "I'm im no condition to drive while I'm breaking down like this, I'm sorry. I'm just going to drive back to the school." He gets snippy yet again and clearly doesn't care about my wellbeing at that time. The 2nd time, I got a 79, which was the nail in the coffin for me. I instead tested somewhere else in the valley today and had a much better experience. Finally passed with an 86, and the instructor only ever talked to give me directions and to review my results once the test was over. I felt respected and felt that I was tested fairly, let alone this instructor didn't put me in dangerous situations like the one at B&B did. TLDR; please do NOT test at B&B on Sullivan... Unless you want a rude instructor who makes comments and doesn't care about basic traffic safety. read more

i took my grandson in and he paid the $25 to take the test for permit. I'm pretty sure when I called the lady (very helpful and pleasant) who answered got him right in, I beeline she told us the $25 would cover 3 attempt at written test. Grandson missed 9 retakes the next day at South Hill location. The adult in front of my grandson said he paid yesterday MM. was his second try. The instructor checks and says ok. so my grandson says the same thing, saying he paid the BnB on Wellesley this was second test. The instructor tells him he has to pay $25 for every test. Plus if my grandson is correct and should get money back the guy takes CASH ONLY and neither place gives out a receipt. Maybe he seen 16 y/old and took advantage idk. But I do know it was total of $50. read more

I went about a month ago to this school. I was never enrolled in classes there as I'm new to the area, but I just turned 19 so I was able to take the written test without taking any classes. The written test itself was $25 dollars, which we were fine with. We payed in advance and I sat down to take the test, the start of which was delayed from the original time of my appointment because tests are taken in groups, something we were not made aware of when scheduling. I finished my test and took it up to the instructor, and old gentleman who was grading them on paper. He grabbed an answer sheet and started marking off questions. When he got all the way to 29 questions wrong, I knew something was wrong. I had studied for weeks for this test. Every day, hours at a time, passing nearly every single practice test I did, and even on the ones I didn't pass, only getting one or two extra wrong. When he told me I had gotten 29 questions incorrect, I couldn't believe it. Instead, I decided to tell him that there was no way I failed, plain and simple. He told me that I was welcome to wait (he gave me an hour wait-time but it was about half that) and come back in when everyone else finished their test so he could go over my wrong answers. Long story short, I waited only for us both to discover that he had grabbed the wrong answer sheet and that I had in fact passed my written exam. He changed my grade in the system and we got my permit from the DOL the next day. I don't know why after that, we decided to make my behind the wheel test appointment with them, but we did. I took that test today and had the misfortune of the same man who failed my written test being my tester for this one. There's currently construction happening next to the driving school, which plays an important part in this test. He had me pull out of the parking lot onto Sprague and get down to the light for Conklin, at which point he had me turn left. Conklin Road has a left turn light that flashes yellow, at which point you are to yield to oncoming traffic and then turn when safe to do so. Left turn lights like that like to switch between green, yellow, red, and flashing yellow in a second. They do it very quickly and I'm fully aware of that which is why I always give them my full attention. Me and my aunt, who I told the full story, assume that my instructor saw the red left turn light as we were approaching and then turned to me to see how I would react, which caused him to miss the light turning to flashing yellow. I, however, saw the light turn to a flashing yellow, slowed down, and turned left when it was clear of oncoming traffic. I had the light in my peripheral and it was flashing yellow the entire time I was making the turn. Regardless of this, the instructor told me that I turned on a red and failed me then and there. Did he have me turn onto the street and then make a U-turn and return to the driving school to end the test? No. He had me continue into the neighborhood. I turned onto a narrow street, the kinds that they have in small residential neighborhood's that don't get much through traffic, and drove in pretty much the middle of the road to avoid hitting the cars that were parked on the side of the road. My instructor told me that I was driving on the wrong side of the road, despite the road not being big enough nor empty enough of parked cars for me to drive all the way in the right "lane" (there's really not a lane separation, you just drive as far to the right as you can) He had me drive through and around a block before returning to the light for Sprague. Rather than having me turn on Sprague to get to the driving school, he had me drive up Conklin. When we got to E 4th Ave, he told me to make a right onto that street. A street which, mind you, was blocked to through traffic due to the construction and I was through traffic. I felt unsafe and the move felt wrong so I asked him multiple times if he was sure he wanted me to turn onto that street and he said yes. I turned onto the street and he had me drive down to the roadblocks before turning to the parking lot at the end of the street. I drove through the parking lot and out onto Sullivan before finally turning back into the parking lot for the driving school. He told me I failed, got out, and told me to reschedule for $35. My aunt got back in the car and asked me to take her on the route that he had me go. When I got to E 4th Ave again and turned right, she asked if I was serious. I confirmed that this was what he had me do and she said that if a cop saw me drive through 4th and then through the parking lot back onto Sullivan, he would've pulled me over for it. So not only did he fail me from the beginning for running a light that wasn't even red the whole time I was going through it, he had me take a path back to the school that required me to go through a construction zone for literally no reason when we could've just turned on Sprague to come back. We put three boys through this driving program, and they all three passed, so there's that. But, one of their drive instructors asked 2 of my boys to repeat something he said using an Asian accent. Both boys felt is was a bit racist. They schedule drives at the south hill location, when we live in the valley. And don't forget a picture id for any testing. They don't remind you of this, and charge $20 to reschedule. I spoke with a manager about some of these things and he could not have cared less. Very unprofessional. Glad we are done with them. One other done attended All Seasons Diving School in the Valley and they were much better to deal with. read more

My child is currently enrolled, age 15, just finished week 3. Consistently, classroom instructor has maintained an environment for learning (he is an elder man with decades of high school teaching). He is a character, for sure, but has never failed to maintain classroom expectations, decorum, and moving through the materials. He has in no way been disrespectful to students, but has kept his word regarding consequences of continued talking or using cell phones during class time. The homework/assignments have been constant learning about rules of the road. If your child is not learning, that is not the fault of the instructor. My child reports what is learned each day and say time is not being wasted, the classroom is moving forward, and while the topics can be boring, the content is doing what it is supposed to do. Students are expected to know when they are scheduled to drive. It's posted clearly on a sheet up front where the student themselves write their name on assigned times. We had one driver cancelled (instructor was hospitalized) and we received a detailed phone message explaining the cancellation. We were not charged. We were also not charged when my student misunderstood about the next day's drive (thought they were with same instructor and also canceled, but were not). Our voice message re the cancel was very exact about date and time of cancelled drive. They forgave the obvious misunderstanding without charge. Every instructor in the car has been kind, funny, and thorough. My child is sensitive to criticism and is a nervous driver. The instructors are building confidence with every drive and my child has reported nothing but good things about the experiences in the car. Is this learning supposed to be the funnest thing a child will ever do. Of course not. It is meant to keep them alive and from killing someone else due to lack of judgement, knowledge, or experience. That includes consequences for failing to bring their permit or missing a class or a drive. This business has a 4+ star rating on the other big G rating platform. Go check it out before you believe all the one star complaining here on Yelp. My child knows LOTS of other kids taking DE from this location. Some have dad's who are police officers. All are getting it done and driving, as the course is designed to make happen. Nothing to fear, if this local is convenient for you, go for it! They aren't ripping people off. read more

The instructor I had for my actual driving experience, Mr. Dave Mauel, was one of my favorite instructors and people I've met. He was very kind, funny and informative. He taught me to drive very well while also keeping everything lighthearted and fun. The in class instructor however was... lacking. Keeping the rating high for the sake of Mr. Mauel. read more

My son got a lot of confidence with the instructors here, and he passed the written part of his exam fairly well, so they did a good job teaching him. Thanks guys. Will send my next two through when the time comes. They also have a car that purposely spins out to practice dealing with that, so really give young drivers valuable experience. read more

Mr. Mauel was my instructor and I loved him. He was there to teach me and I feel so much more comfortable now driving then you did before his instructing. He has helped me remember a lot of the rules of the road and is an overall great instructor. read more

What a ripoff. These people know they have a captive audience. They have shown little respect to their students. The classes are overbooked. The old man 'teaching' mumbles so much the students in the back can't hear him. Try to get a driving time that is reasonable, go ahead and try. Good luck. There are too many students for that to happen. Doesn't matter if the slot assigned creates an issue for you, you need to reschedule. Sad part is, it's up to you to beg on hand and knee to find another spot. If you rely on your kids in the evening, be prepared to change your whole life for these people. My husband took his written test and was told he passed so we scheduled the drive test for two weeks out at Interface around Mead (we live in the valley) because they had the soonest opening. My husband and I scheduled to take the morning off from work so I could drive him to the test at 7am only to get there and find out that the man from B and B had entered the grade as a fail in the computer so he couldn't take his test. We had to drive back home and wait to talk to someone to fix it. Now we have to reschedule and possibly pay again to take the drive test, take more time off from work and wait until another opening. Meanwhile my husband can't start a new job until he has his license. What a joke!!! read more

Really stuck it to my sons. Both took driving exam and written. One son had rules bent for him other did not same instructor. Avoid them at all costs they are ripoff artists and do not care at all for the people hiring them. Only care for the all mighty dollar read more

This is the worst driving school to put your kid in. I highly recommend that you go and attend a different B&B driving school or a different school in total!!! read more

Don't not waste your time or money! My son said he'd much rather wait till he was 18 to drive than have to deal with these "teachers". Drives we often rescheduled without letting us know, which is a $25 dollar fee for missed session. They taught my son that the only requirement to operate a vehicle in Washington state was a seatbelt. read more

My experience at b&b has been mixed. I've loved being able to drive with Norm and Mauel. They definitely build your confidence as drivers and the way the teach is really affective. mauel is hilarious and really builds a good driver; instructor relationship and respects you, hes pretty awesome. The only thing I have to say is I wish the in class instructor showed more respect to his students (taking ur phone if you check the time, or need to look at your calendar to see if you can do a drive). But the driving teachers are really great and implemented really good skills into their students. I've had a pretty good experience. read more

Very poor customer service! My son over the age of 18 called to schedule an appointment, they REQUIRED a debit card payment of $55.00 to even schedule an appointment. Once he arrived at the appointment, the instructor was 30 minutes late with an earlier customer. Once the inspection started they shut him down because his tabs were expired (our fault). He called to make another appointment, they required ANOTHER $20.00 for a reschedule fee! We got irritated and asked for his money back, the lady said there will be a $5.00 fee (whatever) but then corrected herself and said it's a $20.00 fee to cancel! We cancelled and then got on line to see where it stated a fee to cancel, there was no such thing. We called the company back and asked where it was stated and they said they didn't need to tell us or show us! I got irritated and said the instructor was even late! Their reply was the instructor was scheduled OT to do my son's drive and that is why there is a charge???? Are you SERIOUS???? We never asked for someone to work overtime nor did we ask for special hours. We simply called, asked for an appointment and THEY gave us a couple of choices, we picked one and that was it. I can't believe this business can get away with taking money from kids! It's shocking what the attitude of this business has, like they are better then the person who is trying to get a license!!! There are much better options than B and B in Spokane. The instructors devote expensive class time to bashing kids from the private schools---calling them spoiled brats--in what I must assume is an attempt to look cool for the majority. These guys need to go back to grade school---or remember that students from ALL schools are paying clients. Also -I personally witnessed a B and B car drive through a four way stop and almost hit a bicyclist---when the guy on the bike objected, the instructor yelled that he was in the wrong--the lesson the students learned is that it is ok to hit someone if you have the right of way....not something I want my kids to learn. read more

When I needed to ask the instructor a question I was told that I could write her a letter. The person at the main office seemed quite amused about it and actually laughed. She said they couldn't even call her. ????? She said I could drive up to see if I could speak to her between classes. Not happy about this! Tacky!!! read more
