I stayed at the San Juan Marriott where Azure Lounge is the lobby bar. The bar is rather large and has multiple TVs on every side to make it a prime place to catch a game. It is currently World Cup time so myself and many others watched the games here. On this evening in particular I stopped in for a few beers before going to my room. I was promptly greeted by the bartender Marie. She provided the best service I have received in all of Puerto Rico. She was so attentive, social and fun that I did not even want to leave but the bar was closing and I had met my drink limit. By no means am I fluent in Spanish but I used what I knew and she was super receptive and encouraging! Luis, the bar back, was working hard to support Marie and the other bartenders. While he had some time he also provided great conversation. When I return to PR, even if I don't stay at the Marriott, I will 100% return to visit Marie!

This is a Marriott hotel right on the beach in San Juan. There is a high resort fee but which beach…read morehotel doesn't these days. The hotel is lovely! There is plenty of seating places. I had to work in the lobby while they cleaned our room and the high tables made working easier. There is a fragrance in the lobby that irritates my allergies though. Front desk: service is hit or miss depending on who is working the front desk but all employees are professional. Arrival: we came by Uber and the staff is outside the car door ready to assist with luggage and whatever else you might have that needs to be unloaded. Bar: we received some drink vouchers. We ordered the free drink with passion fruit. Our bartender was a young man with curly hair and he made a great drink! Room: sleep quality is very good to excellent!! The hotel is always hopping and we were able to have a good night sleep. Only during our second night, did I briefly hear a neighbor slam a door, but other than that nothing. The door is very comfortable and large with plenty of seating and a nice balcony to see the ocean. We were here on work so not having a desk made work challenging but the coach really helped with the large table. It worked perfect! Mini fridge, safe, and nice Nespresso coffee machine. The room is surface clean meaning it appears clean, but if you wear white socks, they will turn black. A/C: there are some quirky setting on the A/C. If you don't put it on recirculate, the room will get hot at night. WIFI: It is hit and miss. Day 1 i had to use my phone as a hotspot to connect to a work call. Day 2 the WIFI was strong for my conference calls. Front room: nice large coach with separate TV but the window was weird and not very private but the extra sliding door helped. Bathroom: excellent lightening and vent fan in the bathroom. Very spacious. Room service: Make sure to put the sign on your door or room service can take a very long time to get to your room. After breakfast I put out the sign and I was serviced quickly within 2 hours. The first day I forgot to put out the sign and the room was not serviced until after 5pm. Pools: there is a nice pool and beach access.

Review is based on a four night stay. Overall, I recommend La Concha. It's a Marriott affiliate with some personality and class. Arrival: Arrived by Uber. Helpful doormen and luggage attendants. Check in: Overall good check in process. Marriott status acknowledged with a serious room upgrade to a suite. Room was not yet ready, and the receptionist gave us some free drink vouchers for the bar. Room (954): A spacious sweet. Living room included a colossal sectional, large TV, dresser, and breakfast table. The living room also included a Nespresso machine and a mini-refrigerator. Bedroom included a king bed with a bench and nightstands. One negative about this suite: lack of a desk. I was on business, and working from the sofa sectional got old fast. Bathroom: Excellent lighting. Spacious and clean shower. Bed: Decent but not great mattress. Sleep quality: Above average Patio: Nice patio with two chairs and a small table; really enjoyed drinking coffee on the patio watching the surf. WiFi: WiFi when it worked was generally fast. But I missed a video conference due to poor connectivity the day before we left. Housekeeping: Overall housekeeping was good, but the floors were not thoroughly cleaned before our arrival or during our stay. Pools and beach: Multiple pools to lounge by. Great poolside food and drink service. Nice beach (but it can be dangerous to swim at times) with typical seaweed issues. Staff: All of the hotel staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. Great staff overall! Value: Overall good value Overall common area cleanliness: Excellent Misc Tips: (1) There are many decent restaurants within walking distance. (2) There's a large grocery store called SuperMax about 1 mile away. It's worth the Uber fare to stock up on everything from alcohol to snacks (including gifts to take home, such as Puerto Rican coffee for $2.95 / 8 ounce pack

And honestly... how is Cocina Abierta not Michelin rated?! I decided to do four courses, and every single one was incredible. I started with the Crudo de Salmón Hawaiana with mango pascual, watermelon radish, and hibiscus flower. Then the Robalo al Horno de Leña with coconut beurre blanc, salicornia, and tamarind. For the main course, the Mofongo de Pato Criollo with duck chicharrón, duck and shiitake broth, and guava hoisin. And dessert was the Café with requesón, pâte à choux, and carambola. This was one of the most dynamic meals I've ever had. Every course was completely different, yet everything felt intentional, creative, and incredibly well-balanced. The flavors, textures, presentation, and creativity were on another level. What made the experience even more special was knowing that the ingredients are locally sourced and thoughtfully incorporated into the menu. You can genuinely taste the care that goes into every dish. And the hospitality? Unforgettable. From start to finish, the entire experience was exceptional. Cocina Abierta absolutely blew me away. This is the kind of meal you remember long after you leave, and I will 100% be back. If you're in San Juan and looking for an unforgettable dining experience, go here.

This is global techniques blended with locally sourced Puerto Rican ingredients. From the moment you walk in, you feel welcome. I was there to celebrate my birthday (a reservation is a must). I asked if I could be seated in a different section of the restaurant, and even though they were packed, they said absolutely and found me a lovely seat in the bar area. The staff is knowledgeable and attentive. I suffer from severe food allergies but wanted to experience their tasting menu. My server spoke to the chef directly and then took the time to walk me through every option. I TRULY appreciated that they did not take anything off the menu but rather told me how they could adjust for my allergies. That is very rare and so very much appreciated that they went that extra mile for me. I highly recommend the tasting menu. It's 5 courses and they give you 3 options to choose from, within each course. And for the price ($85), a great value. Everything was delicious but I highly recommend the Breadfruit Gnocchi, Rainbow Runner Crudo, and Criollo Duck Mofongo. Chefs kiss! What I also noticed was, even though they were insanely busy, they didn't make you feel rushed. The invited you to savor the experience - which I did. Next time you are in San Juan, make a reservation and go. You won't be disappointed!

Wepa wepa! From Groceries to turning up, this is your spot! I was researching spots to celebrate…read morefor New Year's, this was one of the spots that showed up. AMBIANCE You're in the city so it's an eventful area. There's street parking and nearby lots but your best to carpool or rideshare. As for the vibes, I'm told in the daytime it's a local marketplace that's filled with vendors and other fresh produce booths. It's pretty chill with a nice neighborhood feel. As for the evening, this is where to turn up and get a pulse of Puerto Rico parties. EXPERIENCE Go to your bar, pick your vibe from community, club excessive, lounge feel, live music or etc. Drink choices rangeThey have it here! Plenty of photo op spots and good energy. I was here peak of the #DTMF era so it was magical to see people come together with a speaker and a cowbell. A local put into perspective how this was way better than paying for an expensive hotel party. It was truly a 1 of 1 experience. TL;DR OVERALL 5 Stars. It doesn't get any better. There's a reason why this space is dropped in lyrics and people's recommendations because this is the heart of the people. So don't be shy! Grab a drink, walk around, catch a dance, and be safe! TIPS: * Don't just settle for one spot. Be sure to explore around to experience the entire Santurce experience!

Review #1,047 Posted on 4.26.26…read more We came to La Placita on Thursday the 23rd, when in town to celebrate my buddies 50th birthday. I guess this was purposefully done as I've heard it's nuts here on Fridays & Saturdays. When you get dropped off at the main road when you walk down it takes you to all the action in a few hundred feet. This place was still packed, but it was popping, the place to be at night I'd guess. They've got all JJ da of restaurants, bars, & clubs here. Tons of music, & a good time.
