My personal favorite was the Roucher Blanc. It is the chocolate to dream about. Soft creamy milk chocolate center. Hardened white chocolate and almond shell. Heaven on earth. No English required. The staff was so friendly my deficiency in French was never a problem. Just choose and point. All of the candies are made on premises each morning. When in Toulouse make a point to seek out this quaint chocolatier. You will not be disappointed.

As is usually the case here in France, there was a wonderful assortment of the usual pastries and bread - baguettes, croissants, eclairs, etc. Hubby really enjoyed his eclair. However, what makes this a standout are the macarons. There have about a dozen different types. We bought chocolate, pistachio, raspberry, creme brûlée, and cassis. All were well-made - crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside. My favorites are cassis (simultaneously tart and sweet) and the creme brûlée, which was filled with a yummy buttercream. I am thankful that this is not near my house. I would put on 10 pounds in a week scarfing these down. A must visit in Toulouse.
