Marie Blanchère is a chain of bakeries across France. They are somewhat controversial because they are often blamed for the financial distress that some smaller, artisanal bakeries experience.
This is a great bakery for breads, sandwiches, pizza, viennoiserie, and some tarts and cakes. We bought 4 pain au raisin, a baguette, a pain Nordique (brown bread with seeds and walnuts, and tastes similar to pumpernickel), and 2 cheese pizzas (both with goat cheese, which is popular here; one with tomato sauce and one without). All of that was 12.50€, about $13.50. What a deal!
Baguettes are available in light, medium and well done. The pain nordique is really tasty. My husband loved the pain au raisin and the pizza crust was the best we enjoyed in the area.
There is seating inside so you can have lunch. Parking is available but I think it will be tight once the Mangeons Frais (owned by the same company) opens next door.
I am happy this opened in our area and we will be back. read more
