Granted this was the first day of a time change in California and Nevada from Daylight Savings Time to Standard Time. But this circumstance should have had no effect on Arizona, whose time zone remained the same as the day before. Disappointed, we went in search of another place to eat dinner, and after encountering the kitchen staff of China Panda in the restaurant's parking lot about to leave for home half an hour earlier than its posted closing hour, finally wound up at reliable Black Bear Diner. We were the only patrons seated in the entire capacious restaurant until a few other people walked inside about 15 minutes later This spooky night felt like Halloween, but the tricks and added hunger we experienced occurred just a bit later.

We ordered a couples share which let us pick a starter and then we had a choice of soup or salad and an entree for each of us. I got the 6 oz sirloin and it was salty and our waitress asked us how our food was and I told her it was too salty so she took it back and then she brought me a different steak and it was delicious. All of our food was really hot and tasted fresh and flavorful. The service was excellent. Wish we had room for dessert because the chocolate cake looked so tasty.
