This place feels super safe- when I went, I was pretty much shadowed by security forces wearing armored vests with walkie-talkies. This is actually kinda the entrance to even fancier places, a ferris wheel, and high-end residences. The mall doesn't seem to have any public restrooms. There is no food court, just a smattering of high end places that are kinda tucked here and there throughout the mall. Parking looks challenging. I'd rather take the bus here. When I went, it appeared that they were expanding the footprint of this shopping mall.

That's when I glanced over and spotted this gem! I had never heard of Pineda Covalin before so I decided I'd Google the store before walking the 30 feet to check them out in person :) Low and behold what do I spot, gorgeous silk scarves. Honestly, the beautiful male and female models standing outside of their door also did the trick at catching my eye. I was curious! Do these two stunning individuals work for this store or are they possibly fellow travels looking like they just stepped off of the runway. Hey, models are abundant these days in Cancun - with everyone visiting Tulum I wasn't quite sure. Now, I know! They were models and however much they get paid it worked to lure me in and make a purchase. I walked over to check out the goods and loved the friendly service and introduction to the line. Created by two designers Cristina Pineda and Ricardo Covalin the lines purpose is to share the richness of Mexico traditions through its products. I really liked several designs but ended up selecting a very beautiful bright piece that looks great against a tan ;) They also made sure to ask if I wanted the tax refund form which was nice. Before boarding my flight I went over to submit this paperwork. Tax free shopping for visitors is always a plus. They accept USD and pesos but since I was fresh out of pesos I paid in dollars. Save your time and don't waste your pesos on garbage, if you are looking for a beautiful reminder of your Mexican vacation Pineda Covalin is a great store. I grabbed some crepe mix, vanilla and much needed floss. Total was 55 pesos for all three items which is super affordable. Staff seemed nice but they provide any bags. Much better deals than the hotel gift shop if you forgot something.

I just love Plaza La Fiesta! It's a trip back in time to what souvenir shopping in Cancun was in…read morethe 1990's. This place is HUGE and has literally everything. If you are thirsty, they have bottled water. They have tequila samplings, though not all the time. I was there when they had a sampling with a scorpion in the bottle (ummm ... no). They have some small snacks near the cash register. The place has TONS of Corona beer clothing and souvenirs. They probably have a few hundred different Cancun t-shirts. They have caps. They have Sombreros for $17! They have beach covers. They have dresses to include white cotton "confirmation" ones. They have lots of ceramics and hot sauce bundles and vanilla in various sizes. They have souvenir magnets. Pretty much if you can imagine it as a souvenir, they have it. And, prices are much more reasonable than at other shops. Who has $10 t-shirts at La Isla? They do! Additionally, they have 2 benches in front of the store with 2 figurines that are good photo spots!

The mall was air conditioned, clean, 80's modern, and safe with mostly middle range shops. The Food court was easy to find. There were a couple sit down restaurants. We went to the sushi restaurant but the hostess said there was a long wait. We settled on Pizza Hut for my youngest which had a surprisingly long wait. The rest of us ate Chinese "Cajun" food which is similar to what's offered in all US malls. Everyone was fed for about $35. The food was a little greasy but filling. I had to use my Spanish to order everything. The staff were all very friendly and hospitable.

It has every store you can think of from dirt ass cheap to very expensive and upscale. There's TONS of food options, a 4D theater, cheap covid testing, and a huge discount grocery store. I could've easily spent a full day here exploring all the goodies! I'm most impressed with Calcium nails where I got my gel acrylic nails done for $14 USD. I was also amazed by the grocery store. It had clothes, food, shoes, towels, alcohol, literally EVERYTHING. Like a big ole even cheaper Walmart lol. It can be very packed in the mall and a lot of people just walk right into you. I thought that was weird but hey what can ya do? I'm definitely looking forward to going back and exploring the mall even more.
