I had a recent change in my job and need to relocate to be closer. I really debated sucking up the 1.5 hour commute because I am so happy here. What's to love: a garage space included in the rent, lots and lots and lots of storage, generally a very quiet place, the management is so responsive to requests, great outdoor pool and a super convenient location. I can get to downtown Minneapolis in 15 minutes, downtown St. Paul in 20 minutes, 694 in 2 minutes.... The property is owned by Mateer Properties. They own three or so other apartment complexes in the area. I highly recommend them and highly recommend this property. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to live here and hope the next tenants have as good of an experience as I have had.

Really friendly, very helpful staff...highland management "foots the bill" fo a big get- together twice a year and will shampoo our carpet once a year for free. I think this would be very useful if you are planning on moving in during the winter. From the service drive, you have easy access to the parking lot and the elevators which go to the apartments. The gym here is awesome. The treadmills sync to your apple watch so it can give you accurate workout results. They have enough cable machines to keep anyone happy. Downside is that the dumbells only go up to 50lbs and the bench is a smith machine. Otherwise can't complain about the gym. The gym is open 24/7 I believe... The pool and lounge areas are pretty nice. There are 4 to 6 grills (didn't look too closely) so there is plenty of grilling space to go around. The people here are all pretty nice and haven't seen anyone causing trouble yet. The main lounge area/pool deck at the center of the apartment is shut down at 10pm so there isn't any issues with noise. All in all, no complaints so far. The apartment is beautiful and you get a lot for how much you are spending. Hopefully will write an update review in 6 months to a year.

The parking lot was big enough where finding a spot was never really an issue. I liked the groceries carts that were available to residents for bringing in groceries. And I liked that management had their doors open and were easy to talk to. That all being said, when we first moved in we were told by the manager that the apartment residents were mostly Medtronic employees and some families. The building seemed quiet. Once we were moved in we started to notice LOUD underage parties in the party rooms. Broken liquor bottles in the parking lot and strong fish/cooking smells that lingered the hallways. This building has a lot of potential if the residents were better and more considerate. None of those issues were addressed while we lived there. As far as the parties and loud noises we were told by management to contact police next time.

Re: Fitz Flats in St Paul. So unhappy with my stay here!…read more1. There's no garbage disposal and nowhere to put paper towels. 2. Storage space in the apartment is a JOKE. I am not lying when I say that my closet is not even 2 feet wide. If you put two coats in there, you're out of room. You don't get any additional storage space downstairs or anything, unless you're willing to pay up to $50 a month for the privilege. 3. The showerhead is old and crusty and I've tried to take it off so I can replace it but it is like, cemented on. 4. The windows cannot be opened because they are painted shut or something. Even when I could get one of them open a little bit, all it did was let in a massive amount of bugs. 5. They offer "free laundry" but it's no bargain. They have NEVER EVER cleaned the washing machine filter. The machine backs up with dirty water, animal fur, and this last time, dried animal feces. I can't imagine how disgusting the filter looks. The dust and hair alongside the machines is a fire hazard. I dropped a sock behind there and when I picked it up, a swarm of gnats arose! That's probably why I can't get rid of all the bugs in my room, especially since my room is right next to the laundry room. People keep their laundry in all of the machines for days and days, so you can't even use them. And no one cleans out the lint filter like they are supposed to. I don't like touching other people's pubes. 6. The elevator is so slow. I have literally been late to work because it takes so long. 7. I'm disabled and it is hard for me to walk. I thought that they had some spots behind the building in the parking lot that we could use on occasion. But apparently that's not the case. Every single spot is always taken up by some shiny new cars which look suspiciously like they belong to some sort of business nearby. I don't think this is fair. It's very difficult for me to carry jugs of milk and juice from the parking structure across the street all the way up to my apartment. 8. I think their accounting practices are suspicious. When I move into a new apartment, I always set up autopay for my rent. Apparently, I didn't do it correctly, and I got charged a huge late fee and almost got evicted for not paying my rent on time. This has never happened to me before. And, they charged me for common area utilities on my last rent invoice, which is illegal. I am sure that they have not been forthcoming with this information with the other residents. This is a very convenient way for them to obtain extra cash surreptitiously. 9. My apartment gets incredibly hot for no reason. Even on the coldest days, it's about 90° in here. My electric bill is unbelievable. 10. There is a mentally ill woman who screams outside of my window and bangs on the trash cans all day. There is a very large homeless population around the Fitz Flats.

I've lived here since 2012, and I'm such a fan…read more To be honest, things started out a little rocky. The day we moved in, the previous tenant held over and was nowhere to be found, and through some management snafu our parking spots had been double rented to other tenants. We were understandably frustrated, but they were dealing with a management switch and got us into another unit post haste. They even gave us a REALLY sweet deal to upgrade to a loft for essentially the same price as we were going to pay for a studio walkout. About 10 months into the loft we were getting antsy for bedrooms, and they let us transfer into an empty two bedroom on the first floor, again, at a great deal. I've already resigned a lease for my third year here, and love my first floor alcove. The building is such a pet and people friendly place. I really enjoy all of my neighbors! Oh, and did you know we have a live-in massage therapist? Because we do! The management has been through a few changes, but the current staff is awesome. Corrin and Nolan are really great and will do their best to accommodate any request. Seriously, this is about as good as it gets!
