Location: In the heart of touristy St. Sauveur. Street parking is available (not metered) and…read morethere's a public parking lot close to the church. The place: The space is of a decent size but when the place fills up, you might find yourself elbow-to-elbow with your fellow shoppers. Thankfully, that only happens during the summer and on holiday weekends when out-of-towners are around. The goods: This is one of two good shoe stores in the area, and they carry a good variety of quality footwear from Italian designers, to Coach and UGG to Hunter boots. I would say that the bulk of what they carry is on the dressy side, with the exception of rain/winter boots, sandals in the summer. and some more casual footwear. Service: Hit or miss. I've walked into this store on more than one occasion without receiving any greeting whatsoever, or a greeting of the snooty variety. On this occasion, a clerk eventually came over to see if I needed help. She answered a few questions I had and then rang me up. She was friendly... but I did feel like there was a general lack of interest on her part. That said, let's be honest: in St. Sauveur, you'll occasionally encounter folk who think they're superior to you because they live in St. Sauveur. Price point: On par with what you'll pay anywhere else. If you're buying a brand like UGG or Hunter etc. you will find that these are priced exactly the same as the brand's web site(s).

L'equiper is great place for safety gear and work clothes in Canada. Known as Mark's Work Wear…read moreHouse in other provinces it has a great selection of outdoor wear, safety wear, work and boots and general men's clothing. I believe this is the best place to come for high quality work wear. Not really the kind of stuff you want to buy for the boardroom, but for those that get their hands dirty while working it's your place! Owned by Canadian Tire and has good selection, price and decent quality. Today I wanted to come check it out as it has been years since I've been in a L'equipeur location. I was checking to see what deals they had on outdoor wear. Specifically looking for some long underwear as it's been ridiculously cold the last month. I looked at a few different models but I'm looking for a deal at this time of the year and it was full price so I didn't bite. Most hilarious observation: They have hot pink safety helmets if this is your style. Also other colours. Note to self...I wasn't aware safety and different colours were so in style! Nothing bought today.

Location: Central and near all of the other shops in the area. Parking is limited. Selection: They have a wide variety of clothing that ranges from yoga apparel (limited selection) to bathing suits to ski gear to everyday sports clothing. Right now, they're well stocked with winter coats and ski gear. They have a decent selection of shoes and boots but I've never found anything that worked for me. They do seem to have frequent sales in the shoe department. Price: Depends on what you're looking for. I wouldn't say they're cheap because they do carry some higher end brands such as North Face, Helly Hansen etc. but my experience has been that if you hit them up at the END of a season, you'll hit the mother load. At least that's what happened when I went by at the start of September - I spent way more than I planned to. Oops! Service: Hit or miss. This time around, the assistant manager helped us find the perfect winter coat for my mum. She was incredibly friendly, patient, and attentive to our needs. She really tried her best to find something that would work for my mom, made plenty of suggestions, explained the 'build' of the jackets she looked at etc. Five stars for the amazing service. I say it's hit or miss because in general, I don't find the clerks on the floor to be all that helpful or interested. I guess it depends on the day.
