The boulder cave is frequently updated with new routes and holds, and there are good, securely-affixed mats to land on. They added an autobelay system and an adjustable overhanging wall; there are multiple hangboards, a pegboard and two campus boards. They've fit in as much as possible! And this is all besides the dedicated gym spaces, which include powerlifting, freeweights, a few standard machines + benches, a stretching/pilates room, plus showers, changing stalls, and lots of stretching/band/rolling equipment. 1/ Currently (hopefully changing soon), there is no pass hold for monthly memberships. Right now, at the Core you pay $50 "startup fee" each time to re-start a monthly membership. Others have noted the lack of options for residents/regulars, and apparently this will change in 2026. 2/ As for bouldering, routes are graded tough, and can be a bit sandbagged. I have grown to like this, but some technical variation would be nice in lower grades to teach technique. This is a preference, and so I offer constructive feedback here, as it's about the progression of teaching progression itself in the climbing community. They say the ultrapower style is for an "authentic outdoor experience" but as someone who has been climbing in the S2S all my life, I'd take this with a grain of salt. If you're not already a decent climber, there isn't quite the progression of grades for teaching technique that I find at other gyms. I feel this is where the gym could learn from teaching and training developments in the broader climbing culture. Still--this place will work you hard, which is GOOD. Just take care of your hands, and remember to bring liquid chalk (available at the counter, of note). 3/ The staff are AWESOME, quite understanding, all love climbing, all climb better than me (lol), and if there are queries they cannot handle, the owner--a super well-respected, route-setting OG climber who developed CalChek crag--can be reached via email. Overall I love how the Core has progressed as a climber's training centre in Whistler and look forwards to returning!

Our kids did the Pirate Ship room (beginner), Yukon Gold room (intermediate/advanced) and Rabbit Hole room (advanced). They had a great time in all of them. There is a 45 minute time limit to escape the room. Price is around $40/person. Rooms accommodate 2-6 people. No phones or cameras allowed in the rooms. Best to make a reservation online.

The rooms themselves are intense and hands-on...making you think outside the box, while testing your problem-solving skills (and your family dynamics haha). So we found Backroads, which offers pedal boating, which was the perfect activity. At $110/hour, it's more expensive than taking a kayak or a canoe (which I believe is $99) and doesn't seem as popular (there were only 2-3 pedal boats). We got there on a Friday at around 10:30 in the morning and it seems the most popular option was the kayak. But pedal boating was perfect for us. First, you go to the kiosk and put down a credit card. Then, you head over to a shed to pick up your life jacket, and depending on which boat you're taking, the crew will let you know the instructions and where to go. We took the boat for about an hour, which was enough time for us to go around the lake with some breaks in between. When you're done, you row back to where you launched, return your life jacket, and go close out the bill. Overall, it was kind of pricey but it was a fun experience being out on Lake Alta. Tip - no parking lot. There's only residential street parking, which wasn't plenty but we were still able to nab a spot at that hour. Bathrooms are actual stalled bathrooms and are pretty clean.

They directly lied on the phone saying email notification was given much earlier than 3 days prior, yet refused to provide a date or further information on these supposed notifications... they offered 20% bonus days as compensation for taking away 66% of the services.... They falsely claim that they have no obligation to provide 100% services due to their terms of service, that is not true... this bait and switch is fraud and not permitted in Canada. Please report them to Consumer Protection BC... You cannot offer a monthly service then simply take away 66% of it because your terms say "availability of services may vary"

The course starts off pretty tough with some serious elevation changes and sharp drop offs (don't go long on hole1...you ball falls into an abyss). Near the end of the front nine the course gets a little more tame and manageable as long as you can avoid the hazards and trees. The greens are good sized and rolled fast and true. I made a few birdies which always makes the round more fun. After the round we enjoyed lunch on the patio just past the 18th green. It was a perfect way to end the round! While this course is one of the nicest I've played in BC, their rates also reflect their pride for the course. Peak season you'll be looking at $250+ and I believe there's better value for my money, thus making this place and one and done for golf. I checked that box and will unlikely play here again.
