She did such a great job directing the party ( a groups of mostly 3 yr olds) and managing the art project! The whole place was very clean and inviting. We had a group of 7 littles and their parent(s). All the children had such a joyful time with the art project as well as the free play time allotted for the 2 hour event. The balance between the art project, free play and personal celebration time was really just so appropriate and perfect. All of the guests at one point or another complimented the studio and were impressed with the space including the flow, vibe and overall appropriateness of the location. I highly, truly, recommend this for a birthday party. I'm so happy we had our daughters birthday here!

Valerie is very excited about working with the kids and it shows. She gets great joy from the children's explorations in art and in sharing her love of art history. My kids love going there, have learned quite a lot of art history while making art projects that connect with the theme of the class. All sorts of art media are explored including painting, drawing, paper making, pottery wheel, hand formed clay projects and glazing, even Jackson Pollack style splatter painting on a large tarp outdoors! Once a guest artist came in and talked about her paintings, and I hear that field trips to art museums are in the planning stages. Give it a try, your children will develop a love of art and art history.

I definitely recommend this course, and they also have an intermediate option which I hope to take in the future!

They have quite a few wheels available for classes and general studio use and a fair selection of glazes. We took a bootcamp class to get our start with ceramics and learn the ropes. They offer a wide range of classes from beginner to advanced skills. They have drying areas and a kiln where they will fire your creations. Street parking is limited in the area, but there is an underground garage located right across the street. The underground parking garage does charge a pretty steep per-hour rate however (3 hrs was over $17 as of 2/2023). Overall, a nice space with good people. A great space to learn or practice your ceramics. Definitely worth checking out!

I particularly like their gift workshops where your child is engaged in multiple fun, creative art projects and comes home with terrific handmade presents for the holidays that are individually hand wrapped. In all seriousness, I don't know what was more impressive: the great art my kiddo produced, or the fact that she beautifully wrapped her own artwork/gifts. They have some really great ideas for kids classes that are simply not cookie cutter. The classes are effectively done: just in time for presents for the holidays. Not a soap carving, macaroni necklace or potholder in sight, these are actually some pretty unique, one of a kind treasures. I appreciate that they stretch the envelope of things that kids can make beyond the normal and routine --here kids can make a tile mosaic, a beautiful decopage bowl, or sugar skulls for Day of the Dead. Some pretty creative stuff. We've signed up for a lot of art classes, and are not fans of the "draw this" school of art instruction, but prefer a fun, truly creative class. This place importantly gets a thumbs up for fun from my little customer.

Just had a bizarre experience here after being a customer here for years. I started at the Tacoma…read morelocation looking for stretcher bars by the master series in 24, 36, 30, and 40s. Tacoma was out but the sweet sales associates offered to order or call Seattle. I overheard them on the phone confirming various sizes. So I thanked them & drove up to Seattle. I noticed the Seattle location didn't have the sizes I was told, I asked the guy in charge of frames/ stretchers and he claimed I asked for one size then showed me a different brand from what was confirmed over the phone, a heavy duty variety. When I expressed frustration of being told the wrong thing, he walked off pouting, didn't offer to order any for me like Tacoma did. Not wanting to leave empty handed I grabbed a couple off sizes so I can work. On my way to check out, I informed my friend of what just occured and placed the stretchers at the register. The clerk said "You need to check out over there, Sir." My flabbers were gasted! My monocle popped out! I said "Sir? I'm not a sir!". This was strange and shocking to me. So I went to the proper clerk saying "They just called me Sir. What part of me gives man? I've never been called a man." So yeah I'm mad confused as to why my petite, adorable self in pink & lilac got called a man by someone who would not appreciate being misgendered themselves.... On Pride weekend of all times. And why wasn't I offered to have the supplies ordered for me like in Tacoma? Basically I received a wild goose chase, a bad attitude, lied to about what I overheard confirmed on the phone, and casually misgendered by Seattle staff. Very sad since I prefer supporting local. The Tacoma shop is a vibe with kind, helpful staff. I'll stick with them and Jerry's Art a Rama online. Apparently several reviews report bad behavior from staff over the past year or so. Don't need the funky ahh attitude when I just wanna create.

Came for an intro pottery class with my company, and had a great time with Tommy! They were a fun…read moreinstructor to have. I've taken "intro to wheel" classes multiple times at a couple locations. I think Tommy spent the absolute longest time on centering that I've ever had! I was bored during the class because of that, but then when we finally got to shaping the pottery, it was AMAZING what a difference that makes! Also other details that Tommy shared that I didn't know-- needing the clay to be dry at some point so that it doesn't fall apart, instead of constantly needing to wet it like we did at the beginning-- got me to create in my experience the best little bowl I've ever made ;_; I'm so excited for what it'll look like once it's given back to us in a couple more weeks! The parking was pretty easy, it's right next to a bunch of neighborhood streets that have free street parking, even if the spaces in front are few. :)

I never used one before so I guess I was truly clay curious. Overall it was a lot of fun learning techniques and to make my own bowl. It didn't turn out exactly as I envisioned but I'll see what the final product will be! They have many other classes available online. They also sell pottery in the shop. It's really amazing to see other's work after doing the class and understanding how much work goes into making something.

The studio is very organized and has everything you might need with a convenient store for supplies in case you need something else! Whether you want total immersion in jewelry or a weekend workshop, there are several classes year round to chose from. Already looking forward to my next !! Danaca Design is more than a work space, it is a community of creativity and inspiration.
