The ambiance is great, however the oysters are already shucked before you order them which gives me a bad vibe.

When we came out on the dance floor to do our first dance we were then supposed to go straight into dinner. Our coordinator had us sit down at the head table for h'ordeurves first. As I sat down I realized why. The food buffet was not yet set up! So we waited some awkward moments till we went to the buffet. The food was cold. It was flavorful and exactly what we remembered from the tasting but some flavor was lost due to the temperature. I looked around to see some very nice but very stressed servers but no chef. I had no idea that Denna would not be attending our wedding! I assumed she would be there overseeing our event! Also I had left instructions via email to her that our sangria needed sparkling water added once in arrived. It was never added and our coordinator had to go table to table to pour it into people's glasses. This caused us to run out of sangria early. We had to mix it ourselves morning of in order to even offer it. So was disappointed that the one job they had was forgotten. So glad everyone had better luck than we did. Maybe we had her on an off day.

Good food in an already great environment, Companion Bakeshop, which if you haven't been, you're missing out, because they make the best breads in town and also host pizza night, oh and the bakery is also open for us bake lovin' folks. I had the COMBO* plate, which has both the YAM-BEAN taco and the Snapper taco, because you know, I'm indecisive that way. Having recently been introduced to the fine arts of fishin', Snapper Taco blew me out of the water. *Ok, if you've read my other post you know that I'm somewhat price conscious, at $14 for the combo plate, I straddled between compromising curiosity for economics, but the enviro side of me kicked in with arguments for quality ingredients. In the end, I'm glad to have tried both main dishes, I was SUPER well fed, my tastebuds were joyfully singing, so much so when I finally (big portions take a while to ingest) made it to my dance class, food comma ensued, and well... lets just say that my barre exercises were on the comically lethargic side. Yam-Bean, I'm hooked.

David created and executed a perfect menu - as I write this, I'm savoring the scrumptious leftover morsels from the day, lamenting their inevitable depletion and regretting that there weren't more no-shows to my party so I could have even more leftovers. The food is THAT good. In addition to spectacular eats, David and his staff provided outstanding service leading up to and including the big day. They took care of everything so I could enjoy being present. I would absolutely recommend The Yam and Bean.

Beforehand, we worked with Jessica to develop an all-vegan menu, and she prepared a tasting meal for us. We wanted our wedding meal to be southern-themed, and Jessica came up with creative and tasty all-vegan options - macaroni and cheese, grits, collard greens, biscuits, bbq tofu, and a peach salad! Plus vegan fried chicken and waffles as an appetizer that guests raved about. We were very pleased with the tasting and decided to hire her for our wedding. The pandemic put our plans on a year+ long hiatus, but Jessica stayed in contact with us throughout and made herself available on the day of our wedding. She also made time to come by the wedding venue a few weeks beforehand to scope things out, which was really helpful. On the wedding day, Jessica showed up right on time, and dinner was ready exactly when it was needed. She also worked with us on pandemic-related precautions, which was appreciated. Overall, it was a really great experience, and we highly recommend Jessica and Humble Bumble Catering.

I've used Riverview Farms exclusively to cater the breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We also used them to cater my brother-in-law's wedding for 125 people. I'm really impressed by the freshness of the food and the quality of the staff. I think they excel by preparing simple, yet incredibly tasty dishes. I think we can all relate to the ugliness of the rubber chicken entree at most events. This isn't something we've ever experienced from Riverview Farm. Without exception the food is tasty, plentiful, and fresh. Many times things are sourced from local suppliers right in town. I'm also happy that the menu options presented can always be tuned to my own preferences. One thing that I really like is that the staff is focused on the care and comfort of my guests well beyond the food. The keep my home clean, and when the staff leaves, it is hard to tell we have ever had a party. The owner, Dori, is now a trusted friend and I wouldn't think of hosting another event without consulting her. The best part of the whole experience is "good value". What I like most about Riverview Farms is that I can set a price point and then work with Dori on the best menu possible. Most other caterers start at the menu and work to the price.

In fact there was no one to help resolve the lack of food and poor presentation. RIP OFF.... that is how we felt. Use someone else to cater your event if you want to avoid embarrassment .

While the food eventually arrived, the experience leading up to and during the event was fraught with unnecessary stress. Initial communication was great, but it trailed off as we got closer to the date. Despite their "quick response" phone number, my calls and texts went completely ignored. To make matters worse, the voicemail changed from a personal greeting to a generic one 72 hours before my event, leaving me terrified that we had been scammed. We increased our headcount from 65 to 75 a week prior. After being told this was fine, I was sent an incorrect invoice that ignored the new guest count and asked for a second $300 deposit I had already paid. It took multiple follow-up emails just to get a confirmation on the final numbers. On the day of, the staff arrived promptly and set up on time. However, only 30 minutes into service--with only 30 of our 75 guests fed--they completely ran out of cilantro, onions, and grilled peppers. When I followed up the next day, they claimed they prepared for "70 guests." Even if that were true, it wasn't the 75 we paid for, and it certainly doesn't explain running out of basic toppings after 30 people. I'm incredibly glad we didn't use them for our wedding last year as originally planned. It's disappointing when the service doesn't match the reputation. 2 stars for due prompt service and the guests that got all the food really enjoyed the steak & shrimp.
