**April 2025: Weekday afternoon visit**…read more My friend and I were early for our historic tour at the Henry Clay museum so we decided to check out a local grocery store to kill some time. This Kroger has all your daily necessities plus UK gear. Parking is abundant and if I was a student or staff at UK I could definitely see myself being a regular here! The staff were all polite and I thought the space is very clean and bright.

For me it didn't hit the spot because it's just too many flavors fighting against each other instead of elevating one another. Still a well put together burger and each component was done well on their own. My preference is just not to have that 3 different meats together (beef patty, brisket, bacon) Service was outstanding and super quick! They had a long line but they were ready!

Then her helper guy was too busy on his cell to look up and help her. I've been here a few times with EACH TIME the servers slow and on their cells. WOW! To add insult to injury my food box which had gravy leaked all over my hands and clothes because the young manager decided his cell was more important than plastic wrapping my food container. To the owner's! Please monitor your workers and have them do better. Great food but always employees who are ruining an otherwise great food outing.

Usually it is 95 cents at big box stores so we just bought two cans to tide us over through our little emergency. The store was so interesting that we continued to browse around and found a great deal on ice cream treats. The My Mochi - Strawberry is regularly priced at $6.49 but was on sale for $3.99 today. One of the more interesting things here is the wood floors. And it seems like at least a third of the square footage is dedicated to fresh produce and fruits.

Wayyyyyyyy overpriced. And the staff is a mixed bag. Some good some not. The food was mid.read more

It isn't terribly appealing, but I perused the aisles and found Chevalatta, a common Italian sausage in a ring. If you're Italian, you know. My parents would grill them in the backyard during the Summer. Have never seen it here, so I bought it. Here's hoping. 55

Condiments I've never seen before , mochi , ice cream. Fish balls (not too sure about trying those simply because I'm not a fish fan). They also have a tank with HUGE crabs. I will say this I'm born and raised in New York and spent a lot of time in China Town and I'm accustomed to the smell of fish. So if you're not you may be surprised when you walk in. The woman at the register was friendly and smiled when we walked in. The store itself was well organized and clean. As for the pricing it was definitely reasonably.

My young companions and I did end up browsing the aisles to see what products the store offers. I must admit the cleanliness of the store was definitely a positive. The aisles and shelves are very organized and things are grouped in such a manner that it makes items easier to locate. Although they did have Thai Basil in stock, it was old and of poor quality so I did not purchase it. Quite a bit of the produce was not in the best shape. I did however purchase a non-produce item. The staff member at the cash register was very kind, interacted with genuine consideration of the young children whom were with me, answering several of their questions. He then offered them both a Pocky snack free of charge for both of them, they were ecstatic! If I am in the area and have need of non-produce items, then I will return to this establishment.

It is a nice store, it has great items... but the prices were a bit out of my budget so I skipped straight to the hot bar. I got two plates (pay per lb), two drinks, and two pie slices. The total was close to $70 for a two-person meal. I could no understand how the meals alone were a bit over $50, it did not feel like 2lbs per person, but then again I did not pay attention to the scale. The food was not very hot by the time we sat down to eat, and it was very crowded at 11 AM. The employees were meh but then again, it was a holiday so I appreciate their presence. We still had a good time, the food was good, but I am not sure if I'd return (mostly due to the cost). It reminded me of sprouts or whole foods, just smaller.

Funny enough, we have MORE fun shopping at Aldi, talking to other patrons and then figuring out what our bill would have been elsewhere. She's particularly fond of German cookies so every Christmas season I go and buy her a bunch of German cookies. They also had frozen apple strudel which I probably should have gotten. They have the Kringle too. They have beef schnitzel but I was looking for pork which I didn't see unfortunately. I did end up with some cooca dusted truffles and dark chocolate covered marshmallows as well. In the Aldi's "find" isle they had some really nice gifting ideas. Such as a fairly thick blanket but it wasn't what I was looking for. The sled candles were super cute as well.
