After explaining the problem(s) he went to the basement to check out the fuse box. He knew what to look for and found it and fixed it. On the 2nd floor I had an outlet that I wanted him to see and check out. He did, and found it to be faulty and replaced it. He then schooled me on how to properly and safely check all my outlets myself, and then explained to me in layman's language that I had put too many things on that outlet using a surge protector, overloading the outlet. Took him about 30 minutes. I have since checked with two other electricians I know personally and they said that should have been $120 or so TOPS. Also, had to do a call back because the outside outlet boxes were installed with very sloppy use of silicone sealant. Yes, they did fix it on the callback, but they had to scrape the paint off the house around the fixture to remove all the slathered on sealant. This was in a very visible place right next to my front door. We did sign up for their one year subscription at $16 per month that is supposed to give us discounted services (15% off) but I suspect that any actual work will be much more than 15% over market before discount. Their technicians were friendly and professional, but I was hoping that for an over $2,000 bill the work would have at least been done correctly the first time and the charges would be reasonable. I really hate to give less than five star reviews but I'm giving them a three because they did tell me the pricing up front and I agreed to it, it was only afterwards when I read the actual receipt that I realized how much I was charged. Believe me, when they do my "free" whole house inspection and they make recommendations, I'm going to review them with a fine tooth comb and if necessary get additional quotes. I guess my trust factor isn't what it should be with this company when it comes to pricing.
