On the morning of 5/15/2025 I…read morenoticed there was tire chalk circled on part of the tire and upon further inspection saw there was a visible bubble on the tire's sidewall which poses an extreme safety threat and risk of blowout. I called their store and spoke to their manager about this. She acknowledged they had sent this car to the Firestone tire store the day prior to get fixed and that "apparently they must not have replaced the tire or addressed the issue". She told me I could bring the vehicle by their store to swap out for a different vehicle. Upon my arrival, they told me they did not have any vehicles available to swap and told me "maybe you can take it to Firestone off San Pedro to get the tire replaced" I laughed at this response and told them it's not my job nor do I have time to take THEIR vehicle to the tire shop to get a new tire installed. I emphasized how much of a safety issue this is because a tire with a bubble in its sidewall can potentially blow at any given moment without warning and cause an accident. The desk clerk doubled down he did not have any vehicle he could give me in its place and once again "take the car to Firestone and I'll try to credit you 2 days worth of the cost of rental". I again said no, this is unacceptable, and he ultimately suggested I take the car back tomorrow and try to swap it out once again. This is the worst service I've experienced renting a car especially due to the nature of the safety related issue. I would heavily advise against renting a vehicle from this establishment.

Because that's exactly what happened to me with Thrifty Car Rental at the San Antonio airport. I had a confirmed reservation (Confirmation #L4161609690) for a mid-grade vehicle, guaranteed with my credit card. In the days leading up to my trip, I received multiple emails and text messages from Thrifty assuring me that even if my flight was delayed, my car would be held because the reservation was guaranteed. Fast forward to Thanksgiving Day. I arrive at the rental counter after my flight, only to be told they had no cars available. No apology. No solution. No alternative. Just "we don't have anything" and essentially, you're out of luck--on a holiday, at an airport, after midnight. Both the customer service agent and the manager on duty were rude, dismissive, and completely uninterested in helping. Their explanation? That the system sends out "blanket texts" and emails. Apparently, those messages don't mean anything--even though it's the same computer system they were actively using to tell me I had no car. So let me get this straight: Thrifty's system is reliable enough to send repeated messages promising my car would be available Reliable enough to take and "guarantee" my reservation with my credit card Reliable enough that if I hadn't shown up, I'm certain my card would've been charged But somehow not reliable enough to actually honor a confirmed, guaranteed reservation? That's not a "computer issue." That's a business failure. Thankfully, Budget Rental actually came through and had a vehicle available when Thrifty did not--on Thanksgiving Day, no less. Budget saved my trip. Thrifty nearly ruined it. The entire purpose of pre-booking and guaranteeing a rental with a credit card is peace of mind. Thrifty offers none. What they offer instead is false reassurance, poor customer service, and zero accountability when they fail to deliver. If you're traveling for a holiday, a special event, or frankly any trip where you actually need a car, do yourself a favor and do not book with Thrifty. A "guaranteed" reservation with them clearly means nothing. Thrifty owes me more than an apology--they owe me a free mid-grade rental at any of their locations to make up for the stress, inconvenience, and complete failure to honor a confirmed reservation. Until then, I'll be actively discouraging anyone I know from ever booking with them.

Talk about professionalism, genuine person, ability, and a concern for my best interest interests. Greg knocked it out of the park. My reservation was ready just as I had ordered it and things went by effortlessly the best experience I've had here since the last time I dealt with Greg at the same counter. Dollar really went above and beyond with this guy and the quality of the car for the price that it cost. For transparency I did get the insurance because I'd rather pay a little bit in a worse case scenario than a large deductible. For me it's more like a peace of mind. The car was super clean and practically brand new. The whole process was seamless, nary an inconvenience. I always rent from them and it was high time to leave a review for consistently good performances.

I had a few questions regarding a discrepancy on my rental reservation and some charges, and the representative was patient, she answered all my questions, and I was able to secure a rental at a much lower rate. The pick up was easy. She took exactly where the car would be. I just wish the signage was better in the garage. The car was fairly new and clean. No issues whatsoever and I was so pleasantly surprised.

I set the reservation 1 1/2 months earlier and then the employee said you need to go to the airport to deal with it. I tried pleading and asking for an explanation only to be told he couldn't do anything for me. I was supposed to leave at 5am on vacation with my wife and found it extremely unprofessional and rude. I get to the airport to find the reservation don't transfer. Long story short I ended up spending double what my original reservation. 8 or 9 calls to customer service only to be hung up on, put on hold for 20 minutes or more, told everything would be fixed or resolved, i even went back to talk to the manager and can't get a phone call back. the same agent was at the location and proceeded to tell me the vehicles are handed out first come first server... I have been renting from this place for over 10 years and never had this happen. When I said i wouldn't come back to that site again I was told ok...... like customer service means nothing nor does my business. To top it off i am a gold member so that meant nothing. The vehicle was fantastic and we had no problems whatsoever with it When I picked up the vehicle in Philadelphia, the attendant asked me for my work ID And she said that I needed to have it in order to get the discount that was on my paperwork. No one has ever asked me for my work ID in the past I don't carry my work ID with me, and I felt a little uncomfortable with her attitude concerning that. Otherwise, the remainder of employees that I dealt with were very friendly and helpful.
