They arranged a trade. Went to the location on Crockett. Unfortunately, Adam, very pleasant, explained he had no trades and he was frustrated with customer service repeatedly sending customers his way . The paid for , $49, garmin navigation system, couldn't find several locations we searched. It even sent us down a one way road. HORRIFYING! Fortunately we had a cell phone to help us out, but we paid for something that was expensive and disappointing.

We had reserved a compact car, and initially we were given a relatively new Kia (maybe a K4? I had never heard of the model). We went outside to wait while an employee inspected for damages, and it was freezing cold. Eventually, we could get in the car, except it was so badly parked that I barely could get in. Once I turned the car on, I discovered there was a warning about needing an oil change AND a tire pressure light on. (Probably the tire pressure light was due to the change in temperature, but still the company should manage these things.) I asked for a new car that didn't have multiple warning safety lights on, so we were offered a Chevy Malibu. I have never had a car that needed to be pulled from the fleet the way this Malibu did! First, it had almost 60,000 miles on it. (I didn't even know they kept rental cars that long!) It was beaten up like madness -there were dents and scratches all over it. The carpet was peeling up in the corners by the doors. It was, to put it lightly, a piece of junk. We also discovered later that there was all kinds of trash under the seats and in the door jambs. They had no problem renting this car to me, though. In its defense, it ran perfectly fine, we had no warning lights, and we made it out to the Hill Country and back with no issues. It was a bit of a gas guzzler (much worse than SUVs I've driven), which made me wonder if it did have some issue, but whatever. It served its purpose and ironically, we were coded as having a "free upgrade." Ha!

So I looked on enterprise since they have always been helpful and it was $57 for a small suv. Once booked, I got a call from Gene Mendoza. He stated there were no small SUV's available, but not to worry they had two options and I would get the same rate. Gene and his team greeted us upon arrival and made all the paperwork go smooth and quick.

If that car is unavailable, I do not want to be charged extra for a vehicle I did not ask for, nor do I want suggestions for a smaller vehicle that does not meet my needs. When I initially received mid size SUV, the radio and screen were not functional. I believe I should have received a discount for this inconvenience, especially since the alternative vehicle was not clean/washed. However, due to my urgency, I accepted it. I also noticed that I was charged extra for fuel without my consent. I prefer to refuel the car myself and did so at the exact level that was given to me (3/4 of a tank). Despite these issues during my visit on 4/4, at the St. Mary's location, I appreciate the flexibility I was given to change my return date to a different location without extra charges. The pros were that picking up the vehicle was quick and there wasn't a long line.

    From the start of my rental process the team was amazing! We got in around midnight so we were…read moretired from traveling all day. We were greeted by a sympathetic team member Gerry (Jerry) sorry didn't catch the spelling, who helped my wife and I get situated and was awesome BTW. I had left my phone, unbeknownst to me, at the welcome booth and was looking all over for it while we were waiting to exit and another team member(sry didn't catch his name) ran it over to us and did so with a smile. Really felt like it was above and beyond as they were busy with other customers. Upon returning the car, Jasmine, Jeff, Tyler and another man that I didn't catch the name of, were courteous, helpful and again going above and beyond, helped me with the second leg of my journey. For a work portion I had rented a different level car (cheaper for my company). I asked how much it would be to keep the car I currently had. I was told that they would allow me to use the current car at the price I had agreed to for the lower model. It's probably not a big deal to them, but not having to move all of our stuff and keeping the car that we were enjoying made a huge impact on us. Thanks SAT team. You did a phenomenal job.

I had a free rental day from points, leaving me a balance of $10 & some change. On check-in, (which I couldn't do online this time for some reason), the friendly agent confirmed the free day, amount in taxes, rental times, car type & insurance info. Driver's license & credit card on file, no additional deposit charged. I booked directly with enterprise online. We headed to the lot & were directed to our car with the keys inside, proceeded to the gate where the id was checked and we were on our way - total 10min. The car was as expected... actually, scratch that. We weren't expecting heated seats & were greeted with a toasty surprise when we hopped in on this uncharacteristically chilly day in TX. Return signage was clear & it was easy to navigate. It was the first time we've had the car inspected with reflective disks on return to check for hidden hood dings.. They must take damages seriously. We were clear though, so, all good in my book. Email rcpt was in my box by the time we hit the gate. Well worth $10 for a 24hr visit to my hometown!
